I get email notices that people - friends on Facebook - are posting, & I'm 'missing' updates... oh well. I still have an account (if that's what it's called) however, don't post. For some reason, my older brother sends messages to me thru FB, which I often miss.
I'm not a fan of McD's, nor any fastfood place, & definitely not a fan of weight loss drugs like Ozempic -
bit of news not posted by you, Bill
Funk legend Sly Stone died Monday at the age of 82. He and his band, The Family Stone, helped redefine rock, R&B, funk, and dance music for generations of Americans.
I found FB valuable for finding friends and family, but then we switched over to phone calls and texting. The unwanted ads and feeds are getting on my nerves, and it is burdensome to cancel, block, etc. So, not so much interaction anymore.
If they can give me ONLY what I want or agreed to, it might be more attractive to use
I've never been on FB but if they were to wipe everyone's friends cache to start over again, wouldn't all of the photos and documents go with them? That could make for a lot of pissed off people.
Interesting. My friends and acquaintances are still very active on FB. Most of my activity is staying in touch, but my best interactions are on groups. I’m in a healthy lifestyle group and several regional and local gardening groups. They are very active. I’m in groups for other areas of interest that include a wide variety of ages and they are very active. I guess maybe I just found the right places for me.
Thanks for sending more than your normal number of articles! I read the LA article, I’m still on FB and I enjoy your messages (I’m just not into soccer).
I use FB to keep in touch with people in a way you can’t with other social media. But I also waste a LOT of time clicking through reels. I could do without the ads, but they are easy enough to close. If I only saw friends posts, I would be missing out on a lot of the stuff I enjoy watching now.
And who is really wrecking the US? Governor Newsome or President Trump? Pretty much a tie, will be interesting to see how this turns out. Just makes me glad, again, that I do t live in the States.
I joined Facebook early on. Now I stay there just because my sister, two of my best friends and some horse people are there. I realized when on Facebook it turned into a black hole from which I would only emerge from after a couple of hours without even realizing in...I was just wasting my online time. But my sister and the friend that is an ex-pat living in Lima, Peru are still on F/B I also stay.
Facebook could be more respectful and also refresh our friend relationships: how about every year have a Favorite Friends day -- where we add to a Fav Friends List those people we're closest to and want to hear from -- current friends, new friends -- kind of a heightened follow list -- or the opposite of the 'I don't want to see anything from this person for 30 days'. That I'd like -- and it would change. But to clear my friends out -- even once -- I'm completely done and I'm on FB every day.
I couldn't care less about meta...it is a spy machine to the max.
In case you weren’t aware, the “friends-only feed” option is not available in all areas. Why is that?

A thoughtful essay on the most important thing in the world: Change and how difficult it is . . .
Thanks, Bill!

A tie? How so?

I’m on FB only because of Outlander and its cast members. You Tube and Bluesky are my social drugs of choice these days.
