I do try but he keeps doing things that are terrible for our country and only good for himself. I honestly wish he could give me a reason to not despise everything he does. You pray that he will do good things which will be about as effective as thoughts and prayers for mass shootings.
All this time I thought the book Animal Farm was about the Bolshevik revolution. Past is prologue?
Trump ran on promises of protecting free speech and protecting religious rights for Christians. In his first week, he has attempted to silence a bishop for using her freedom of speech inside her own church and is now threatening to undo the principle of sanctuary to perform ICE raids in churchess. And you want US to control our reflexes?
Darrell, I am in complete agreement here. I was referring to Mary’s comments above about the author of this peace. For If we don’t know our history, we r deemed to repeat it. And here we go again. Only the man “in charge” has orange hair and not a small mustache. Too many parallels to list. But we r becoming Germany from the first part of the 20 c. Censorship, mass deportations, pretending to care about the “reg man”, there was even a “salute, or TWO” at inauguration, rights stripped here and there. Red herrings, so you don’t c this or that. While I am a Christian, where is decorum at the White House. A HUGE cross for the spokeswoman. That is UNWOKE agenda. How does that represent ALL our country. Would ppl b enraged if she wore a hijab? I mean. It’s just her religion. But I am betting ppl would have something to say. But Saying that we r not going to do the woke agenda, but girl(White House Press Secy) , U R THE AGENDA. Because U wouldn’t b there w/o woke ppl fighting for women’s rights before u were born. So many contradictions. So scary. And “his ppl r blind” because eggs r a better price (which btw, they r not). That’s what Hitlers German ppl said too. 😳
I loved your story, as I travel through Girard periodically. I wondered how some of the big houses could have been financed. I did look up the story and a nearby University, Washburn U, has an article about the background and mentions in equality of Marcet, spouse. She played a key part of all this “revolution” of social enlightenment. https://www.washburn.edu/reference/cks/mapping/h-j/index.html
"Dementia claims the lives of smarter people sooner, scientists have discovered. Research published in the BMJ, which analysed 261 studies including 36 relating to educational attainment, found life expectancy after a dementia diagnosis decreased for every extra year of education a person had received. (The Telegraph.)" The Telegraph just made a common error; assuming those who are educated are smarter.
Just because someone went to school does not make them smart. I have met and am acquainted with more educated idiots than I care to know, and some of the smartest people I know do not have college degrees.
The bias in the Writer's perspective is clearly evident in the article's title "Dementia hits clever people harder, study finds" (now they are also cleverer,) in this sentence "Dementia claims the lives of smarter people sooner, scientists have discovered" and in a subsequent paragraph "Experts believe it is because people of higher intelligence are more resilient to cognitive decline and able to function for longer without signs or symptoms of the disease onsetting."
Again, the assumption is made that those who are more educated have higher intelligence, and many times that is simply not true. It appears the only thing the researchers have proven is that the more schooling one has, the earlier they can expect to die after diagnosis. Perhaps one could ascertain the arrogance of the educated keeps them from seeking out a diagnosis after they have begun to notice a cognitive decline.
Bill, I think you should be little more critical in your assessment of what you pass along; this one is loaded with bad assumptions and untruths.
I guess the millennials haven't figured out that the annual refunds just show they have been subsidizing the government all year. they will eventually figure that out.
And the guy with the truck, may people aren't angry because it's a Tesla, maybe it's because they are so butt ugly that it hurts the eyes to look at it.
I love the Aristotle via Durant story. What a great roundup of a well-led life; especially the bit about Mrs Durant joining him in their success. Great story Bill.
As for the 7 other things, the best one was to find out that I’m seemingly in no danger of having any issues with dementia as most of my education has come from life and the ability and love of reading.
My very short college experience included a Humanities course, and the text book used for the course was 'Our Oriental Heritage', by Will and Ariel Durant. I enjoyed the course and wish I had kept the wonderful book.
Simply fascinating story! I love reading about things like this. thanks!
As Kristin said, a simply fascinating story! Reminds me of the Einstein quote: “The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.”
The tax article clearly shows that 37% of taxpayers have an incomplete understanding of how finances work and mismanage their money.
I voted for Trump and pray that he will strengthen our country. Try to control your reflex to despise everything he does.
Just a thought, try not to control others reflexes?

I was commenting to support you, not Mary. You and I are on the exact same page.

Interesting read today.
