Regarding masked ICE agents: the Atlantic's assertion is sentimental, but does not reflect current reality. Doxxing and threats against law enforcement officers -- and their families -- have driven a greater need for privacy to protect public servants from violence and retaliation. There is a reason why law enforcement officers and their families are protected by California's Safe At Home program, for example.
How do you know a masked, unidentified person is legitimate? They could be anyone posing as someone legitimate.
I told my daughter to never open the window of her car to a police officer unless they are in uniform and until they show a photo ID. I also told her to never pull over until she was in a public parking lot near a store entrance. Those are the exact same guidelines I follow. If we allow masked, unidentified law enforcement we are giving up our rights as American citizens.
What would you tell your children or spouse? What would Jesus do?
I thought it an apt question since Iβve seen it on so many car bumpers next to trump stickers.
I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.β
The righteous then ask,
βWhen did we see you, a stranger, and welcome you?β
Christ replies,
ββTruly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.ββ
As Matthew 25 makes clear, the Christians should see everyone as βChristβ in the flesh. Indeed, scholars argue that in the New Testament, βstrangerβ and βneighborβ are in fact synonymous. Thus the Golden Rule, βlove your neighbor as yourself,β refers not just to people whom you know β your βneighborsβ in a conventional sense β but also to people whom you do not know.
Beyond this, in the letters written by Paul of Tarsus (one of the most notable of early Christian missionaries), often known as the Pauline βEpistles,β it is made clear that in Christ,
βThere is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[g] nor free, there is no male and female.β
From this perspective, being βone in Christβ should be taken literally as acknowledging no fundamental differences in kind among human beings.
I agree w/ David - too many threats against law enforcement & their families, not just in CA. That 'active shooter' in the 2nd part of 7 things worth mentioning is one of over 500 cases of actual threats against our defenders.
The top cities - hmmm, Atlanta, I guess if you like driving in traffic, a LOT. Unless you get a job working at home. Ooops, but according to the last part of today's note, companies are in control again, sooooo....
The bottom of the list, imo, cost of living &/or crime accounts for the majority of those. The others just aren't the choice places to live...especially for those just getting started.
the other things worth mentioning, the first one is really worth mentioning!!! Thank you! So much sadness that has happened, & continues to happen. Those first responders & others still searching, continue to risk difficult to treat infections from the flood waters.
ICE agents wear masks to protect themselves and their families. Attacks on them are up 700% and it doesn't help that democrat leadership is fueling the flames by telling people to get violent against them. I don't get it. Obama deported 3-4 million illegal immigrants. He was known as the "Deporter in Chief" yet it all floated under the radar because it was the "chosen one" doing the deporting. Our country is safer and the lies being told about American citizens being deported are not helping the situation. The misinformation being deliberately spread by democrat leadership and the MSM will get people killed.
How many examples do you need? Here is one from The Guardian:
Authorities wrestled a US-born citizen to the ground, cuffed him and dismissed his so-called Real ID as βfakeβ during an arrest operation targeting undocumented people on Wednesday under the direction of the Trump administration, according to a viral video and reporting by Telemundo.
Leonardo Garcia Venegas, 25, was at his construction job in Foley, Alabama, when officials arrived to arrest workers there. Garcia Venegas β who was born in Florida to Mexican parents β began filming the arrests with his mobile phone before officials reportedly knocked the device out of his hand and tried to arrest him as well.
Video of the arrest shows three officials wrestling him to the ground, while he yells: βIβm a citizen!β
From the Washington Post dated May 3:
Over a dozen U.S. citizens have been swept up in the Trump administrationβs crackdown on immigration, according to interviews, court records and news reports.
The floods in Texas are heartbreaking. Water has no forgiveness.
The best place to start a career is where you can get a job in the field you want to work in. Will be interesting to see how far the work-life balances swings to the other side. I think whatever generation is entering the work force (I have lost track) is on for a big dose of reality.
Interesting g about the sterile flies - can they come up with a way to make barkless dogs?
As for ICE people wearing masks, maybe we need to look at the reason they feel the need to do so. Perhaps the overly aggressive methods they use are doing no one any favours. And I agree with Darrell, as a female of any age, My doors and locked and my windows are closed until the person properly identifies themselves, and even then it will be in a populated area.
the few times I've been pulled over by police, I pull into a lighted area & the police are very kind & understanding. They always show their info. If I happen to be carrying at the time, I also have my hands on the wheel, w/ my carry permit on me, letting them know where my gun is, so everything is good. When we were robbed & my husband was carrying, police came w/in minutes, telling us to meet them outside due to not knowing if the break-in robbers were still in the house, told husband to put gun on ground, uncocked. They immediately showed their id/badges as they introduced themselves.
ICE going in where cartels are suspected is a different 'ballgame'. There's no legal requirement for ICE officers to provide their personal names. ICE internal policies require agents to display their badges, but this can be waived if officer safety is a concern. A person can ask to see credentials. Now many dems & liberals are outwardly telling illegals to not say a word to anyone about anything & to attempt to 'get away'. That, imo, is playing games w/ the seriousness of the cartels. Cartels' operations in the US are extensive and sophisticated, utilizing a range of strategies from drug trafficking and human smuggling to advanced technology and recruitment tactics. They represent a serious and multifaceted threat to American communities.
Very. Masks should be an absolute no-no. Funny how such fears werenβt expressed during the last administration. When you are upright in your enforcement, there is little need to fear. As far as anyone knows, many of the masked wonders are highly questionable in their attire and their conduct. No warrants, no ID, no nothing to prove themselves legitimate. Sucks to be them if theyβre doxxed.
Regular police don't mask. ICE does in SOME cases, when they suspect Cartel activity. ICE agents have faced instances <---FACT where their personal information, including photos, addresses, and family details, have been published online, often with accompanying threats. This practice, known as doxxing, puts agents and their families at risk.
I've said before I'm not a fan of Trump, don't care for his style in a lot of things, however, I'm not one of those that dumps on everything he does. During the previous administration it's a fact Cartel activity increased & that administration did little to control that activity. In fact that was quite likely one of the things that led to Trump's election. During this administration it's a fact Trump: DESIGNATING CARTELS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AS FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS AND SPECIALLY DESIGNATED GLOBAL TERRORISTS
You say you arenβt a fan of trump but you love everything he and the 2025 club do. Sounds suspicious. Tell us, who would you like as president?
This has nothing to do with cartels and everything to do with intimidation, Stephen Miller style. If it happened to one of your family members, you would be outraged.
Whatβs to stop me - or anyone - and a bunch of my buddies from playing dress up and βarrestingβ people?
Both my boys got their starts in two of your cities, Bill. One in Hotlanta and the tuther one in Charleston. Those towns have come a long way in my lifetime.

Love how you invoke Jesus' name. He would tell the democrats to stop telling their constituents to get violent against the ICE agents.

I guess you would be fine if law enforcement engaged with one of your children masked and unidentified - because you know this is just the beginning.
Obama did not send in masked ICE agents to pick up American citizens. Stephen Miller is using terror tactics like Nazi Germany. Slippery slope.
American citizens are not being picked up by ICE.

As the Trump administration races to fulfill its promise of mass deportations, over a dozen U.S. citizens have already been swept up in the immigration crackdown.β©The cases have alarmed attorneys, civil rights advocates and immigration scholars, who warn that citizens are becoming increasingly vulnerable in a system moving faster and operating with fewer safeguards, The Washington Post previously reported.
