Sometimes I like to think of ADHD as standing for 'A Different Happy Day'. It's certainly never boring. ๐Ÿ˜

Funny you should post this story today. Yesterday I found, minimized at the bottom of my screen, an email I thought I sent on Tuesday.

I've never been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD but both of my kids were (I do believe there is a touch of heredity there, but both are adopted so we don't know if any of their birth parents had it). Instead of putting them on meds, we changed their diets (www.feingold.org). My son still required some medication but, instead of 65mg, he was on 18mg., thanks to the change in his diet. I fully believe that the foods we eat, and the chemicals we come in contact with daily, play a huge role in what happens to those neurons. Petrochemicals, like food dyes, plug-in air fresheners, and certain soaps and shampoos, completely modify brain function. Some brains can fight it off, others cannot. There's a reason why tens of thousands of kids are diagnosed every year, compared to when we were kids. Yes there were a few in school who were labeled as 'bad', because no one understood what was going on inside their heads, but now everyone has an IEP and special services in school because of their ADHD. Change the diet to one that uses no artificial ingredients or food dyes with numbers in them (red 3, blue 1,etc.), stop using air fresheners with petroleum in them, and those neurons will remember to thank you.
