Be nice to your paper boy or other youthful provider. He may one day be your physician, manager, policeman, judge, etc.
My mother was once examined by a specialist at a large, multispecialist medical facility. After hearing his name and voice, she asked him if he might have been her paperboy 20 years earlier. Yes, he had been.
My husband wasn't an intern at his company, but it was his first job out of college. He has had several different positions, and weathered near extinction and a buyout. In August he celebrated 36 years at the firm. You don't see that anymore.
I retired after working for the same newspaper chain for 39 years. It is a shame print died. Reading newspapers on line is just not the same, engaging experience.
As David Kra said, many kids were newspaper carriers, running their own businesses handling distribution, billing and customer service. Not sure what they do now for that experience.
Glad people liked this today. I have been so "off" this week — I forgot that we normally do "Free for All Friday," and this was supposed to be one for next week. Whoops! Oh well, nice to change things up once in a while!
I'm with you, Bill. I turned on my radio this morning to listen to a gardening show that is broadcast on Thursdays. My husband told me a dj he was listening to said how we all get confused on holiday weeks like this. At least we're not alone :>)
Regarding how many jobs we have had, I must be an outlier. Just four employers between 16 and 66. Bank mailroom, a packaging company, the Air Force and a consulting firm. Never felt pushed or pulled
I’m not one to root against anyone but the new head of Target needs to understand that they have lost a lot of customers by caving to pressure on DEI issues. My household of two spent hundreds every month. Now, not a penny.
