Key Points
Many graduate schools of education (GSEs) display a concerning ideological asymmetry, advancing dogmas grounded in progressive and critical theory frameworks rather than exposing prospective teachers to intellectually diverse ideas and training them in pragmatic instruction and classroom management methods.
An investigation of 10 graduate education programs raises serious questions about whether GSEs are preparing teachers for the realities of the classroom or instead shaping teachers’ worldview with a belief system that is focused on immutable characteristics and activism while remaining actively hostile toward Western ideals and anything resembling traditional education.
What stands out in several programs’ assigned readings is not ideological balance but the fringes to which many of the critical theorist texts reach—that teachers are being taught to “queer education” rather than teach math, for example, or that special education demands an “anti-capitalist politic” and “collective liberation” rather than instructional techniques to manage challenged learners.
“These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward conservative causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports, and omit information that may damage conservative causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy.”

ahhhhh, made ya look, & of course conservatives are always so bad. I'm not talking about Trump lovers, I'm talking about conservatives who have been true Republicans (of course, many of y'all conveniently forget that Trump registered as a Dem in the early 2000's). Many of us true Republicans now see us as folks w/out a party, but that's not the discussion here. Did you bother to read the possible alternatives? Or just shut your mind once knowing it's written by the big bad wolf conservative? Not that any left-leaning publication publishes "misleading reports, & omits information that may damage liberal causes, showing such sources may be untrustworthy." ???? yes? no?
When I read the comments I knew they were right of middle. Left of middle is also a problem for me. That made me consider the source. Reaganomics didn’t work and it’s only gotten worse since.
That same month, the Trump administration proposed deregulating Head Start, one of the country’s most important programs for poor children. Head Start provides preschool, child care, meals and support services to about 700,000 children, many of them homeless, in foster care or disabled. The administration has already closed half of Head Start’s regional offices. Now it intends to reduce the federal overhead payments from 15 percent to 5 percent and eliminate or dilute national standards governing student-teacher ratios, educational requirements, medical screenings, program hours and other services.
The administration claims these changes will reduce costs and allow Head Start to serve more children. But this approach removes requirements intended to bolster program quality. Project 2025, it is worth noting, advocated eliminating Head Start. The administration’s approach will, at a minimum, dramatically reduce its effectiveness.
oh, & bye, for now. Gonna go draw a pic to make a Ghostly mirror to get ready to paint it w/ the frame I purchased yesterday at the thrift store. Then it'll be time to pool around w/ my hubs, which we do almost every afternoon, using the pool table we have in the main room of our house. We had a nice vacation planned way back when COVID hit; we couldn't go, got a full refund, got rid of a lot of furniture in that room & bought a regulation-size pool table. You'd think I'd be a pretty good player by now, but nope, I'm not; we have fun anyway. Talk a lot together.
So funny!! Where’s your mind!!??? Bill shares how he & his wife met & fell in love, how they travel together, the sights they see & how they value their time together. I post about playing pool with my husband almost everyday, how much we enjoy our time together, we talk more than we play pool - i didn’t add music is on & we’ll take an impromptu dance around the pool table - and you say TOO MUCH INFORMATION.???? So many of Bill’s topics in the past have dealt with sharing - but you say TMI??? BTW, I’m married to a Bill
How much do you & you wife really, really talk with each other every day hmmmmm????
C/p from a college professor in Ohio who is in economics & does a lot of proofreading & spreadsheets, etc, who read this:
Schools of Education are among the most "left leaning" in academia. They are primarily run by women, for women. I attended a presentation at another college, and the female speaker talked about critical race theory. In Q & A, I asked her what hypotheses might CRT seek to test. "It's a theory". "Yes, but what does it test". "It states that colleges are racist in how they operate". "okay, but that is a definition, not a theory". "How might you test if a college is racist in how it operates"? "It's been proven it does". "So what test did were run". "Why are you harassing me, you bigot". "I'm an academic, and I trying to learn from you, but you're not answering questions I've asked". "I don't need to, because you're a bigot and a racist". "I'll withdraw my question, since you cannot answer it". "You're harassing me". I pulled out my kindle and began reading, and ignored her. Afterwards a Dean-ish type person came up to criticize me. "Excuse me, you said this would be an academic presentation--She can't define a theory, using the term theory correctly--it's not my fault she was poorly trained by your faculty". And I walked off to a loud "Harummpph"! It's also why I don't attend DEI presentations anymore, or several other topics where it is propaganda and not academic.

How could an investigation of 10 out of how many graduate of ed programs in the US say anything definitive about anything? Besides, by the time a student enters a graduate level of study they have probably put in a few hours in the classroom and have a pretty good idea of where their beliefs lie so have gone into schools that will enable them to teach to their strengths. At least one would hope so. Just a random thought.
