I don't really care about the legal outcome for SPLC, as long as it sends a message to future donors to stop. SPLC is just one group, but an influential one, that helped bring us to a point where "Anyone questioning my view is racist and using hate speech." Those two accusations that have been overused in a knee jerk manner by the masses have done incredible damage. Let's hope this ends the organization.
“ The law has never required non-profit groups to hand donors a line-item receipt for every sensitive operation, said Todd Spodek, a federal criminal defense attorney with Spodek Law Group PC in Manhattan.
“From a defense perspective, this isn’t a fraud case. It is a political attack on standard investigative tradecraft,” said Spodek. “We are talking about high-stakes intelligence work where discretion isn’t a form of deception, it is a matter of survival.”
In order to win a conviction, the government will have to prove the center engaged in a deliberate scheme to lie, Spodek said.
“They simply cannot. Silence of tactical details is not a crime, and you don’t get to call it fraud just because the government dislikes the methods used to get results,” he said. He later continued: “The prosecution is trying to turn operational discretion into a felony, which is a massive overreach.”
I’m sure the only reason to add the instagram photo of Elizabeth Smart to the newsletter was to comment about the accuracy of her BMI. Did I miss something?
Seriously, I could stand to lose a few pounds. But even if I get to MY ideal weight, I'm still classed as obese. Being built like a running back doesn't help your BMI. Thick chest, big thighs. So as long as my waist is less than my chest, I'm happy.
I won’t even get into how most human bodies change between the ages of 50 and 80. If left to our own devices and desires, the evolution of most human bodies is one of build up and then break down. That’s what happens to all the cells in the body all the time or we wouldn’t grow or we would never stop growing. Build up, break down in a cycle. As a woman, I’ve been made very aware of this process. When I finished growing, I topped out at close to 5’6”. I’ve dieted ever since I was 13 and I’ve been every weight between 7.5 pounds at birth to 175 pounds when pregnant. Women go through a lot. My BMI has stayed between 23 and 26 but I would hate to think what it would be now. Mind you, I don’t weigh any more than I did at age 40 but I’m now at almost 80 years under 5’3” with a waist measurement that prefers elastic rather than buttons and snaps. Due to a series of unfortunate events in 2014-15 I now have almost as much titanium in me than cancellous bone which of course has lead to a whole other issue; but you can get my drift. At this point, I’m hoping to not outlive my money or to be too much of a load on my son who has stepped up and taken on the Mom Project. Whatever happens in the meantime, a BMI reading won’t be in the equation.
All I can say at this point is congratulations Bill. Keep it up and may the force always be with you.
As for the rest, Yay Virginia. Hope the high court stays with the voters.
FIFA made its bed with trump so had best be prepared to sleep with him.
The FBI is a joke thanks to its punch drunk boss and has no business investigating any reporter.
Tucker can’t be trusted. He’s been all over the place in his career. If it’s anything at all, it’s buyers remorse.
The Chinese won’t be the only ones faced with that AI problem. That’s going to be in a lot of futures.
Young folks are smart to realize their futures will lie in the trades BUT they don’t necessarily have to go to trade schools to learn how to weld, wire or plumb for instance. My son was advised to join the welder’s and pipefitters union and they would do the teaching. That’s what he did a number of years ago and has not looked back. He started out going to college with the intention of being a doctor but that was about the time the health care industry started undergoing all its trauma so he switched. He worked his butt off to learn welding, worked for an international company over 10 years and now has a nice job monitoring HVAC systems at MUSC. The point is, there are other less expensive avenues to learning these trades.
Good for Ms Smart. If that has helped her in any positive way, she’s done well. She will have to keep it up until she dies though; just saying. All that finely tuned and toned muscle can go south pretty fast.
other than BMI, I would suggest most studies indicate what you eat is a healthier guideline. The Mediterranean Diet has been rated high for many years, vs highly processed foods, sugary snacks, sodas, etc., & can possibly prevent many diseases. And caffeine is shown to be a good thing, w/ moderation. Exercise has always been highly suggested, but now short bursts of intensity might be more helpful than long jogs, biking, etc. And one person's intensity should not be compared to another's. Timing can be as little as 2 minutes.
Did I miss where you mentioned the recent indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center?

Here is a link from a thoughtful article from The Guardian. They do good work and this was a smart move, much like law enforcement uses.

Another guideline that's probably better than BMI, but not the DXA scanning, your waist circumference should be half your height.
As for the GLP-1 drugs, studies seem to show if you stop taking the drug, you will regain the weight you lost.

I'm glad she feels good about herself, but I'm not a fan of body-building for either men or women. We got Arnold out of it after all.
I'm not overweight. I'm undertall.
