so much in the news, so much divisiveness, people believe what they want to believe...

personally, & I've said this before, I think businesses should be fined, a great deal, for hiring illegals. They must be held responsible in their hiring practices.

There are many, many illegals here who have expired visas.

I believe 'dreamers' should be given a way to become full US citizens.

I also believe if people want to come to the US, they should be proud to be here, they should want to assimilate, learn the language. WAVE THE US FLAG. PLEDGE to the US FLAG. My ancestors, as did many others, came thru Ellis Island, legally, & as quickly as possible learned English & worked to assimilate. Honor the various cultures, at the same time assimilate & love the US. We want people to immigrate here - legally. Those who have immigrated here, legally, resent those who do so illegally. If you ask me how I know this, it's because I talk to them on a regular basis. It started when I was a volunteer for Adult Literacy, working w/ high school dropouts in our community & also those who came to our country & wanted to pass the US Citizenship exam. I heard so many heart-warming/heart-breaking stories of what brought them here/how they got here LEGALLY, & it took them a long time. And now they were eager to pass that exam & when they passed they waved that flag proudly!!!

They also say don't use "undocumented immigrants". Use ILLEGAL. If they don't have documents w/ them, they are undocumented, but they are legal. Again, I talk to them almost daily.

I’m confused…now trump says “some” undocumented workers are OK? Especially when they work at his hotels? So “some” illegal immigrants are OK? Sounds like selective enforcement.

“Trump Shifts Deportation Focus, Pausing Raids on Farms, Hotels and Eateries

The decision suggested that the scale of President Trump’s mass deportation campaign — an issue that is at the heart of his presidency — is hurting industries and constituencies that he does not want to lose.”

On Thursday, Mr. Trump acknowledged that the crackdown might be alienating industries he wanted to keep on his side.

“Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” he said on social media.

Mr. Trump posted after Brooke Rollins, the secretary of agriculture, informed him of farmers who were concerned about the ICE enforcement affecting their businesses, according to a White House official and a person familiar with the matter. Mr. Trump has for decades owned luxury hotels, an industry with a strong immigrant labor force.”

of course, c/p from The Free Press:

Here’s ABC News: “It could turn very volatile if you move law enforcement in there in the wrong way and turn what is just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn into a massive confrontation.” Indeed, the official ABC News report is that it’s just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn. The only problem would occur if cops tried to stop the cars burning, ruining the peaceful car bonfire.

“Left-leaning mouthpiece”? Could it possibly be that you are a right-leaning mouthpiece or that you prefer right-leaning mouthpieces?

Did you watch that ABC video? ABC 7’s Marc Brown was saying it wasn’t a riot —- with the cars on fire. What would you call a riot?

At least we can agree on one thing, although the right calls it a tour group but whatever.

I think it is right that the American people are in engaging in protests over something they think is wrong. I think what Miller and Trump are doing is wrong. I think your use of the term hate(which you say your mother told you not to use) to describe someone you don’t know is wrong and could be projecting.

common /kŏm′ən/

adjective

Belonging equally to or shared equally by two or more; joint.

"common interests."

Of or relating to the community as a whole; public.

"for the common good."

Widespread; prevalent.

I suspect you believe” you have common sense.” I suspect you are right. The real superpower is “Uncommon Sense.”

Heaven help us with these far right mouthpieces, all conspiracy theories and the sky is falling doom and gloom. I can’t wait to hear the complaints about produce, fruit and meat prices when there are no more undocumented to handle those jobs because clearly the MAGAs won’t do them.

All this is so the real mastermind Stephen Miller can hit his imaginary goals while his boss creates chaos to obfuscate from the budget nonsense, and everything else. The CBO said the poorer 10% will take a 3.9% hit while the wealthiest 10% will gain 2.3%. Guess the poor will cover for the rich - again.

But you guys have fun getting suckered by reality TV with the master apprentice.

Trump Tax Bill Would Help The Richest, Hurt The Poorest, CBO Says

JUNE 12, 2025 • JARRELL DILLARD

The House-passed version of President Donald Trump’s massive tax and spending bill would deliver a financial blow to the poorest Americans but be a boon for higher-income households, according to a new analysis from the Congressional Budget Office.

The bottom 10% of households would lose an average of about $1,600 in resources per year, amounting to a 3.9% cut in their income, according to the analysis released Thursday. Those decreases are largely attributable to cuts in the Medicaid health insurance program and food aid through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Households in the highest 10% of incomes would see an average $12,000 boost in resources, amounting to a 2.3% increase in their incomes. Those increases are mainly attributable to reductions in taxes owed, according to the report from the nonpartisan CBO.

Households in the middle of the income distribution would see an increase in resources of $500 to $1,000, or between 0.5% and 0.8% of their income.

I don't know any dads who watch TV standing up. In my 60+ years on this planet, I don't think I have even seen a dad watch TV standing up unless he was just passing through.

How many Americans would do the jobs that the illegal immigrants do? I can't see many Gen X, Y, Z or millennials out in the fields planting or picking strawberries. Or cleaning rooms in hotels. Or working for minimum wage in any field. Many of these illegals have a terrible journey trying to get to what they think is a better life in the U.S. You can't have your entrance say “Give me your tired, your poor, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” and then keep people out.

and like someone else has said, if you are going to join a country, then join that country, learn the language, follow the laws. Don't be a hyphenated, be a true citizen. I know here in Canada, we have a plethora of Chinese-Canadian or Indo-Canadian or Lebanese-Canadian. A lot of them come here, get their citizenship and then go back to their old country, expecting Canada to rescue them when trouble breaks out in their homeland.

I know one dad who stands to watch TV, but then, I think the only time I’ve seen him sit is in a vehicle. All the rest sit.
