I enjoy quotes and this on from Ebert is a great one! Great story and nice to see how potentially emotional decisions can be reduced to logical facts, making for a simple decision.
It would be so nice to see a real Native American woman in our senate, someone that is actually NOT an immigrant.
What will happen if Russia does actually use some form of aggression against a NATO country? Will the US honor its obligations? Would we even have enough weapons to do so?
I recall the scene from Jurassic Park where they tied a goat to a tree as bait for the T Rex. Bait or decoy, I wonder what the all the cabinet members (except one), staff, and journalists felt when they learned they were the goat tied to a tree? Would you feel betrayed?
As for all the hair burning over Trump’s setting the press corp and his advisors up after the summit in Turkey, I refer to The West Wing. Do you recall(if you watched it, that is)when the Secret Service gave Josh whatever it was that would allow him to go with Bartlett and Leo on AF-1 in the event of an attack and how conflicted Josh became when he learned that so many of his friends would be left behind? I’m going to assume that scenario was pretty accurate then and still holds today. There are those who are considered essential to be with the president(even this one)in the event of some disaster or other and everyone else would be left to fend for themselves. If that is the case today, then what happened shouldn’t surprise anyone who associates with this president unless they all thought they were his “special”friends. That it turned out to be Natalie Harp should have been a given but I’m sure his choice of Hegseth, Scavino and Nauta opened some eyes even though it probably shouldn’t have. With this guy, everyone is expendable.
At the rate the West is drying up, the coastal states had better start using desalinization technology sooner rather than later. I’d hate to think what a water war would look like.

If Russia is planning an attack, I wonder how/if the US will step up. Is this another decoy bit of info? Hard to imagine it would be so publicly available.
Reading about Roger Ebert reminded me of the book about Siskel & Ebert called "Opposable Thumbs: How Siskel & Ebert Changed Movies Forever." Having read that, I can see how Ebert would have come up with that calculation for Oprah. The book is great as it covers their partnership all the way from their humble beginnings with their PBS show to their fancier digs (the book tells you about the sets for their shows) of a syndicated show. It also reveals their rivalry prior to their partnership, which didn't end with their having a show together. And, sadly, covers both their deaths.
I wonder if we re on the route to WWIII. And what happens to Ukraine if Putin attacks another country? Does the US have any weapons left after their escapades in Iran? If the western states run out of water, are they going to be looking to Canada as a source? And if so. How do they plan to retrieve said water? Does Canada have water to spare? Are we headed into another depression and dust bowl? So many questions, only time will provide the answers.

That date thing was completely new to me...but given I'm about as happily married as they come, that makes sense.
