This is something I’ve known for some time now. I’ve been online since the 80s. I’ve seen how it all grew alongside us. True friendships are in person and up close.
You can’t meet for coffee with an online acquaintance. Honestly, I am only on FB and all my FB friends are actual friends or family. I am on some community groups with people I will likely never meet, but that is more to keep up with what is happening in the area. I so often have random conversations with people while waiting for a light to change or standing in line to buy groceries
. You never know ow when a random acquaintance may become a friend. That was how I met my first husband. He turned out to be a mistake, but I did have some interesting times.
