There’s another 3 question rule I’ve sought to practice since first learning of it in the early ‘70’s:

Is it kind?

Is it necessary?

Is it true?

Over time, this rule has rewired my thinking. I speak less and listen more, mostly thanks to the first rule.

If you've ever been to a Rotary Club meeting, chances are they began or ended with "The Four Way Test," which has been part of Rotary since 1932.

"Of the things I think, do, and say:

1. Is it the truth?

2. Is it fair to all concerned?

3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?"

Our world could use to consider this more often....
