I wonder how many women of all ages were studied? I know, at least from my perspective at least, my sleep patterns have changed markedly over my lifetime. Before I went off to college I had a regular bedtime. After that though it’s been all over the map. Motherhood really put a kink into my sleep patterns and I’ll bet I’m not alone in that. Later in life it was other things that affected sleep. Now, as a single senior I’m lucky to get 5 uninterrupted hours of sleep. Usually, it’s get up for a bathroom call then go back to bed for an hour or two. I’m thinking for others, it’s worse than that. Catnaps are known to happen too. As for some of those health consequences, COPD and asthma?? I fail to see a connection there. Maybe too much sleep exacerbates those conditions?
Anyway, Trump and his idiot war causing chaos at NATO. He should be renamed president chaos.
And what a woman! Rowing across the damn Pacific Ocean to Hawaii from California in record time is phenomenal. Good for Kelsey Phendler! Again, what a woman. I’m convinced that our grit and determination are our secret powers.
I’ve found that my Apple Watch does a good job of monitoring my sleep activity. If you turn out the light at 11 pm and get up at 7 you probably aren’t getting the 8 hours you think.
Watching Donnie cavort with this Iran nonsense is like watching a pro tennis match at 10x speed. He will be mired in this for the rest of his term. Even worse. He now claims he doesn’t care about the primary reason he gave for starting the war: nuclear material. He lost before he even began, just like when he stuck his nose into FIFA.
Let’s hear it for the badass girls (and women) out there doing improbable things every day.
I haven’t slept well for a couple of years, ever since my husband developed dementia. More than six months since he went into the hospital and subsequently passed away, my sleep is still all over the place. Some days I sleep well but most days, either I can’t fall asleep or I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep. I am really glad that I am retired and don’t have to get up to go to work, as there are many days I doubt I would have made it. Even the drugs I have been prescribed don’t help that much.
The story about Mitch McConnell is another reminder that it’s time to get old people out of politics. If the general retirement age is 65, why do we still have politicians in their 70’s and 80’s?
Up till my 50's, most of my sleep was in the 4-5 hour range. For some reason, around 3am is the time I woke up with a solution to the work problem of the day.
Now 20 years later, I'm getting 7 hours. Sometimes less depending on my "alarm clock" (one of our cats has decided it's his job to wake me up 😃).
Do I feel better? More refreshed? Less old? Nope. I am old. We all try to embrace things we aren't, we should just accept who we are. No amount of sleep is going to change the creaks and groans of getting old.
Well, I'll take feeling pretty good that my apple watch tell's me I've averaging about 7.3 hours over the past two years...and ignore the daily grades it gives me about how many times I wake up at night. :)
and yes, my goodness, Kelsey's feat is AMAZING!!! Quite the woman, person, human!!

Platner apparently was vetted by a couple of idiot college kids who completely ignored all the red flags that have since come out about him. https://youtube.com/shorts/3xICO9XMtd0?si=t2sOXKA4vnBypQa2

Wonder when Weekend at Mitch’s will be released?
