that's probably true. however in past surveys the political distribution has basically been a bell curve, maybe one that skews a small bit to the center/left. Not 68/20.
You have expressed the exact issue with our political dialogue. You presume the other side must be deficient in education, common sense, and/or morality. The other side assumes the same of you. Both are are wrong only in their own ignorance of the other.
The issues to be solved are not the shortcomings of our other Americans, it is shortcomings in our political system. A system that is not representative of the majority of America and cares nothing of what stresses American's day to day. Look at the exploitation of our higher education system, medical system, insurances, and any and every subscription you have. Do better, be nicer, and contact your representative and demand the changes you want. The POTUS can't do it alone!
Maybe it’s just me, or I am just too old, but I don’t get how anyone can say this is the most stressful day of their life. I grew up not knowing where my next meal would come from or if I could pay rent; I lost a son and another child is an addict; I was in NYC on 9/11; I was part of a team that took a company public, and I flew my family half way across the country to lead a company that I knew little about (and was going broke). Those are some stressors. Who get elected this time (especially if we get a divided congress) just doesn’t compare. Do vote, but relax a bit - as with most other predicted tragedies, it will turn out ok.
For real! The government says she can't kill herself, expose herself in public, or take many drugs either. Meanwhile the government can force her to take a vaccine and silence her online if she objects. When will we all, man or woman get liberated to do whatever we want with our own body?
I'm not surprised by the results of the poll. Many Trump voters won't say publicly who they are voting for because they don't want to be called Hitler, Fascist, trash, deplorable, ignorant, un-American, or any of the many other names the party of tolerance and joy have bestowed upon us.
Then by the same metric you're saying up to 55% of educated married women live as slaves to their husbands. Examine your argument. Does it fit with your view of women?
Stop, starting, with the other side is wrong.
But YAY! The election is over and we can all go back to sleep until the next, where we will wake up frustrated to choose the lesser of two evils.
I am suffering and have been suffering from election fatigue. Campaigning and electioneering basically never stops. It will start tomorrow and will run continuously for the next 4 years. I wish our elected officials would do their real jobs for at least a few years.
The amount of money donated to candidates and spent by candidates is sickening. Billions of dollars that could be spent on something useful, something badly needed in our country. You can identify what you think that should be or it could be used to retire debt.
Campaign "debates" are really pissing matches--who can talk over their opponent or make them look bad. Very little information about the candidates' policies and stands on issues is shared. The nonstop commercials on TV are a tweet form of these debates.
I'm passed caring anymore about who is elected. Just let it be over!
That's all fair ... but I feel like pointing out (a) Harris only campaigned for 3 months. And (b) there were only 2 debates -- well 3, if you count Vance/Walz. The first two (Trump/Biden and Harris/Trump) were very consequential. And the Vance/Walz one was at least seen as civil.
While I can’t go anywhere, I’m taking my mental floss out and flying through my email and reading the very few of my favorites then trashing or junking all the others. I’m done. I’ve done all I can physically do to support my favorite candidates and I’ve voted so yes, I’m finished.
See you when you get back. Enjoy your down time Bill 🇺🇸💙.
Vote! Vote! Vote! Don't be bullied by one side or the other. Its a two party system for now, pick the one you want. Forget the lesser of two evils craps. Vote for the policies you believe in. Tick, tick, tick time is almost up.
I just wanted to know if you would write a piece on why it is that every poll and most interviews/ outreach, etc. showed people strongly opposed to the orange man and being beat by his opponent. How is it that so so so many tallies could be so wrong? What is your take on that?
Hopefully your poll results reflect what the national election result will be!!!
May common sense and goodwill prevail.
Does the proportion of your readers/subscribers who live in predominately blue states correlate to the results of your informal poll?
No, I don't think so. The location data I see is pretty well distributed across all 50 states.
Regarding your poll results, they must reflect the fact that most of your readers are college educated. I will refrain from saying more.

No one is trying to control what choices you make with your body.
You mean no one is trying to control a woman’s decision to have an abortion? I could go on…

Hmm - not sure if many actually care. And many female voters won’t say because they don’t want grief from their master…I mean, their husbands.
You believe 45% of college educated women live as matrimonial slaves?
https://cawp.rutgers.edu/gender-gap-voting-choices-presidential-elections
Not what I said.
Sorry, I assumed you were referring to women voting for Trump.
I was referring to women who did not vote for trump but did not want their husbands to know.

Party on party people!
I think this was true in 2016. I don't know if it's true anymore. Frank Lunz was saying that "shy Trump voters" used to be a real thing, but that he never saw it in any of his focus groups this cycle. https://fortune.com/2024/11/02/presidential-poll-frank-luntz-turnout-data-shy-trump-voter-overcompensate-data/
Get ready for a long comment.

Andy Kessler called this election the Hemlock Election. Pick your poison.
