I wonder if white collar job staffing reductions and the use of AI is behind this:

“White House Health Report Included Fake Citations

A report on children’s health released by the Make America Healthy Again Commission referred to scientific papers that did not exist.

The Trump administration released a report last week that it billed as a “clear, evidence-based foundation” for action on a range of children’s health issues.

But the report, from the presidential Make America Healthy Again Commission, cited studies that did not exist. These included fictitious studies on direct-to-consumer drug advertising, mental illness and medications prescribed for children with asthma.”

Update with a new article I just read in the NYT:

“For Some Recent Graduates, the A.I. Job Apocalypse May Already Be Here

The unemployment rate for recent college graduates has jumped as companies try to replace entry-level workers with artificial intelligence.

This month, millions of young people will graduate from college and look for work in industries that have little use for their skills, view them as expensive and expendable, and are rapidly phasing out their jobs in favor of artificial intelligence.

That is the troubling conclusion of my conversations over the past several months with economists, corporate executives and young job-seekers, many of whom pointed to an emerging crisis for entry-level workers that appears to be fueled, at least in part, by rapid advances in A.I. capabilities.“

Loved the story about AI - sent it to my sons, esp the son who got his double degree in CogSci (computer science, philosophy, psychology, linguistics & biology) & Microcell Biology because AI didn't exist yet at UC Berkeley, but he's been working in the field since. AI didn't all of a sudden pose a problem since 2025. China didn't all of a sudden become a competitor. Etc, etc...

the AI generated movie, which I watched the full link to, was very interesting, & clever, also!!

Stay-at-home sons (maybe daughters, too?) I know one, not nearly as bright as those in the story, who just graduated from HS, has never held a job, has never had a date, just now finally has enrolled in driver's ed because 1 week before graduation decided not to work w/ his dad & thankfully has decided to enroll in community college - hopefully he'll follow thru w/ that. But he'll continue living at home.

Terrific stuff this morning. I noted the WP article on manufacturing in the South. Living in Georgia we see this influx. Business booms here.

I don’t know if it’s the current culture or what but I couldn’t wait to leave home & not because it wasn’t great, it was just time.

Me too. I turned 18 in August and was in the nearest big city on my own in September, as soon as I was old enough to sign a lease. Mind you, my parents lived in the middle of nowhere, so it was either move into the city or have a 2-3 hour commute. Not something to look forward to during prairie winters

With Musk claiming there will be billions of robots replacing man, I hope to secure a job as a robot oiler. Nothing more nerve-wracking than a squeaky machine.

As the DC Swamp is pretty much brain dead, I see no problem with the entire shebang being replaced by A/i. That's the game plan isn't it?

Squeaky machine - love that!!

And DC Swamp, Biden Cover Up - yep perhaps time for something more intelligent to take the reins. Including each side of the biased news don’t ya think? Report the news, not anything else

You mean this Biden cover up?

Trump Amplifies Outlandish Robot Biden Conspiracy Theory

President Trump reposted another user’s false claim that the former president had been “executed” in 2020 and replaced by a robotic clone.

This has been my concern, how will we sustain ourselves when the world's population is on the rise and yet AI will be demolishing available jobs? Whether the articles are fire mongering or not, jobs will be lost to AI.

All those white collar people out placed by AI can do the jobs they never wanted to do that were previously done by the immigrants no longer here. It can be Casual Friday every workday.

As an administrative support specialist for 40 years, I am sure the jobs I had will soon be taken over by AI. It can create documents, set appointments, book travel. But the one thing AI cannot be is a sounding board; some things just need a human touch.

The film was interesting. Didn’t understand a lot of the technology, but I m sure it will change how some films are made.

The 27 year old man still living at home with a master’s degree made me kind of ragey. His parents are doing him no favours, and he is wasting a lot of education to be a social media footprint. I certainly hope his parents are charging him rent and that him mom is not doing his laundry or cleaning or making all his meals. Time for Junior to grow up and be a real adult.

The Korean scam is rather ingenious, but I have to wonder why the people in the States didn’t start to wonder what was going on when they got the 20th computer . . . But I guess having a steady source of income can be a game changer.
