I guess there IS a drug for every little ill. Perhaps there is a drug which makes you immune to ads and endless marketing. MAHA will fail because people will never give up their crutches. Not many people can live without vaccines and drugs. At age 75, I use neither but I am part of the shrinking minority.

Funny this item about taking a beta blocker for anxiety should pop up today. I follow a vlog on You Tube about a middle aged man, married to an English woman and who always wanted to live in the Scottish Highlands. His vlog is about that. Anyway, today’s vlog included information about the health care system there and one thing he mentioned was about the fact that he used to suffer from blinding migraines but over there, he was prescribed a beta blocker and his migraines disappeared. Now, the fact that he is living his best life in the Highlands(and I would recommend his vlog to anyone wishing they could make their dreams come true by immigrating say, to Scotland)may have something to do with the relief of his migraines but who’s to say, really? Check out “The American Highlander” on You Tube if you’re interested or if you just enjoy seeing how others live.

Anxiety is not a bad thing, people need to learn to deal with that feeling and move past it. Hiding feelings with drugs doesn’t make them go away, and they will come back stronger. We are going to end up with generation(s) of adults who don’t know how to deal with anything without some kind of drug, which means they have no idea how to teach their kids to deal with emotions. Maybe we are already there.

Have to admit I only read the summaries in the newsletter and none of the actual articles.

I was mocked (trashed) here the last few days by a couple of provocateurs because I didn’t know anything about Charlie Kirk. So, I did some research. Here are 10 things I found that he has said. It makes me ponder why Trump would lower the flag to half-mast for Mr. Sykes (and fly his body on AF 2) but not for murdered school children.

Oh, well. Here is the list:

1. “But I think it's worth it. I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment," he said.

2. "I can't stand the word empathy, actually," he said. "I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that does a lot of damage."

3.. While debating a college student, Kirk said, "They were actually better in the 1940s. It was bad. It was evil. But what happened? Something changed. They committed less crimes."

The person he debated responded, "4,000 Black men, women, and children were killed in violent lynch mobs. Racial terror permeated American culture for hundreds of years. You don't think that affected the generational psyche of an entire group of people?"

"Black America is worse than it has been in the last 80 years," he interrupted.

4. Kirk was asked what he would want his daughter to do if she were 10 years old and pregnant following rape.

After calling the scenario graphic, he responds, "The answer is yes. The baby would be delivered."

5. Kirk suggested trans people are wearing the gender equivalent of "Black face."

He said, "A man who calls himself trans is wearing 'woman face,' no different than I would wear Black face trying to be a Black person. It's assuming an identity that isn't yours."

6. Kirk not only said that Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Ketanji Brown Jackson are "affirmative action picks"...

7. Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go take a white person’s spot to go be taken somewhat seriously.

8. After Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement, Kirk fantasized about Kelce making Swift "more conservative" and begged the pop star to "submit to her husband."

“This is something that I hope will make Taylor Swift more conservative," he said. "Engage in reality more… Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You're not in charge.”

9. On X, Kirk insisted, "Gun control, like vaccines and masks, is focused on making people feel 'safe' by taking freedoms away from others. Don't fall for it."

10. Following the tragic January collision between an American Airlines plane and a Black Hawk Army helicopter, Donald Trump suggested diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts were at fault. Kirk added to this, saying:

"If I see a Black pilot, I'm going to be like, 'Boy, I hope he's qualified.'"

11. Following the release of an NBC poll illustrating the difference in priorities between Gen Z'ers — which showed that Gen Z women who voted for Kamala Harris see having a fulfilling career as a marker of success — Kirk said, "Democrat women want to die alone without children."

12. "Now, I will say that for future retirees, people under the age of 45, we should absolutely raise the retirement age. I'm going to say something very provocative. I'm not a fan of retirement. I don't think retirement is biblical," he said. "You say, 'Charlie, I'm just gonna retire and I'm just gonna go golf.' I think, what a waste of the gifts that God has given you."

Sad but revealing that people who loathe Charlie Kirk’s politics insist on flattening him into a cartoon villain.

The majority of those on the left of center and disagreed with almost everything Kirk said might say things like they found some of his rhetoric quite appalling. But he didn’t deserve to die. He was a father, husband, son, and friend. And "When I saw the news yesterday, I felt very sad thinking about his kids growing up without a father, his wife losing her partner, and his parents losing their child. It’s just terrible."

Adults value empathy as much as attempts at showing intellect.

Today's topic - did you read? Narcissism? Lack of empathy. Inability to recognize the trait.

You said “Adults value empathy as much as attempts at showing intellect.“ Apparently Mr. Kirk did not.

I am not trying to make you happy, just making an observation.

rinse & repeat "Obviously I'm not talking about Kirk at all, Darrell."

ETA: Clarification needed: In your lengthy 'rant' against Kirk, no empathy shown at all. Yes, there are a great number of those on the left who detested what he said, but what I TRIED to clarify in my first reply to you, that even many of those showed empathy towards him. But you didn't, none, zero. You just wanted to show why, explain your distaste, show everyone why he was such an awful person... & you have such excellent research ability to pull up all that info on him... even tho you didn't know him before that

I did not rant about Kirk, I only shared his specific words and offered no personal opinion. Perhaps HE could have shown some empathy towards the people he marginalized, but according to him, he didn’t believe in empathy.

But Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah, a Republican, used his turn in the spotlight to make a full-throated appeal for the practice of forgiveness, urging the country to find a way to lower the political temperature in a deeply fraught moment.

“We can return violence with violence. We can return hate with hate, and that’s the problem with political violence — is it metastasizes,” Mr. Cox said. “Because we can always point the finger at the other side. And at some point, we have to find an off-ramp, or it’s going to get much, much worse.”

“History will dictate if this is a turning point for our country,” Mr. Cox continued, “but every single one of us gets to choose right now if this is a turning point for us.”

Mr. Cox’s impassioned remarks, delivered as the F.B.I. director, Kash Patel, stood to the side, seemed in some ways to be a direct rebuke to the language of vengeance and the politics of blame that prominent members of his party, including President Trump, have used in the days following the shooting.

a bit about narcissists - I divorced one. I could tell several stories. One --- the family was in the car, 3 sons in the back, he was driving, started getting into left lane, semi coming up behind in that lane, one son at first calmly said 'dad, stay in the lane', he was ignored, still tried to get over, son then yelled, 'dad, STAY IN YOUR LANE!", which he did, as the truck blew past. Son saved us from a very dangerous situation. Husband didn't recognize that, not at all, just blamed the truck, then the lines in the road (which were fine), then the truck again & again, then son for yelling & getting on his nerves, back-seat-driver, etc., etc. Not one word of thanks. BUT it didn't stop there. For HOURS he talked about the awful driving conditions. It didn't stop there, for DAYS, he talked about the awful driving conditions, and truck drivers... FOR DAYS!!!

One more story - this one, among many, about vanity. We were all vacationing in the mountains. Husband & I were standing down on a trail, another son on a trail above up, that son loved photography, did some good stuff, he took a good shot of husband & me looking out across the way, w/ the mountains in the distance & the river below. Photo came back & a growing balding spot was showing on husband's head. THAT'S ALL HE SAW. He said it wasn't real. It was the way the wind was blowing, it was the way the sun was shining, he wasn't balding, not him, w/ his glorious hair, etc. And, same as the above story, it didn't stop. Heard about it for ever. Those photos disappeared. They no longer existed.

soooooo many stories. Never argue w/ a narcissist. They will never admit any wrongdoing, they cannot be wrong, they turn everything around to the other person or situation being at fault. Guilt is one weapon of choice. If they think they're intelligent, they will resort to whatever they think will prove it.

and like the article says over & over - they lack any empathy. And they absolutely do not see themselves as narcissist.
