That 52 year old pot of soup is incredible. Kind of a strange dedication but admirable in its strangeness. When sourdough starter was mentioned it would be interesting to know if there was any such “heritage” starter out in the culinary world.

Musk is a sick, drugged up, racist s.o.b. for what he was allowed to do by another sicko.

If anyone has watched “The Man in the High Castle”, that’s a more contemporary history shifting story but can you imagine how history would have been impacted had England won. The entire North American could have conceivably ended up under English rule and since England and Spain were historic rivals, one could possibly imagine Mexico also being folded into the British empire. Could such a behemoth continue to exist or would we see members eventually breaking off as has happened over the years? Canada Day was the celebrated on the first of July when they celebrated their confederation. India got its independence as have other parts of the former giant. History hasn’t been kind to Empire.

Immigration enforcement is insidious and will gut a huge economic driver. One thing that may not have crossed many minds with all this deportation brutality going on, illegal immigrants pumped $26.2 Billion(in 2023)into Social Security, none of which they will ever get back and last we heard just this week, Social Security will have to begin cutting benefits in 2032 unless Congress can get its shit together to fix it. Now start draining what immigrants contribute to Social Security and see if even more severe cuts won’t have to be made. Killing Social Security has been the “conservative’s” w_t dream since its inception. Everything they are doing now, and that includes having AI cut jobs too, will keep the trust fund slowly leaking. It’s a back door kill.

Have a great 4th. Be careful with the heat.

Dear President George Washington

April 8, 2026

My name is Tayz and I am 9 years old. The year

from which I am writing to you is 2026, 250

years after you made the United States of America

independent. I wanted to tell you about the state of

our country today, an the impact of technology.

Let us start with the social. The good impacts are

that people can be connected more quickly over the

internet. People can access entertainment from all

over the world. But, we have to talk about the bad

stuff too. The internet has become a dangerous place

filled with cyber bullies and, to stay safe, people try

not to connect with each other.

Now, on to Mother Earth. On the good side, with

inventions like electric cars (and electricity!), conve-

nient ways to compost and recycle, there are ways to

help keep the earth clean. On the bad side, pollution

and climate change have made things unclean.

Finally, what might be quite important to you, is

politics. On the good side, people are able to exer-

cise their vote with more education because more

information is available about the candidates. More

groups of people are now able to legally vote, so it

is more fair. There are also ways to use technology

to register to vote and there are systems to mail in

ballots no matter where you are. On the bad side

though, people and candidates themselves are able to

share false information about themselves and their

opponents. Our current president does just that,

using social media and Artificial Intelligence [AI] to

spread his views and thoughts quickly and broadly.

His thoughts and views seem to go against the free-

doms and rights you, President George Washington,

fought to achieve 250 years ago. Instead of your

United States of America, the current president

wants to make it a Limited States of America, only

offering good things to a few people that he likes,

instead of all Americans.

It’s a tough world today and situation for our

country. But kids like me are learning from good

examples in history to shape the present for a better

future.

Sincerely,

Tayz, age 9, Maryland.
