I had to laugh at today’s subject Bill because I got a bit of a comeuppance yesterday. I moved down here to Panamá three years ago come November. Some of the clothes I packed to bring with me I had bought either for my husbands funeral in Feb of ‘22 or for my trip to Scotland in September of that year so not all that long ago really. Along that same line, I was 5’4” tall and weighed 135 plus or minus a pound or two. Everything fit beautifully. Time, as it will, passes. In 2022 I was 76 years old. Now, what you may have to look forward to if men end up following along a similar path to women, albeit more slowly. Today, I’m 5’3” and weigh 140-so not much difference except for the loss of height and therein lies the myth around using BMI as an indicator. As a much younger woman I was 5’6” tall. That 3” of shrinkage ended up around my middle, where, when doing that nasty pinch test, I would be pinched. Heck, it has to go somewhere so that’s where it ended up. Those dresses that were perfect just 4 years ago no longer fit nicely so they will exit my closet and join the pile of NC clothes that no longer like my body’s shape. I’ve settled-literally. Somewhere in my reading about health, fitness or whatever, the observation was made that we come into this world a shapeless blob with potential. We grow into that potential and then slowly morph back into that shapeless blob for our exit. All this depends entirely on if we live long enough to go through said stages. Apparently I’m on my way back toward shapeless blob. Elastic waistbands and Lycra have become my friends and I no longer obsess about belly fat, gray hair or any of the other minutiae that used to drive me crazy. After all it’s only window dressing. The old saying, “It’s what is on the inside that counts” is pretty much true. So much of our physicality is out of our control but the inner workings, the emotional health and well-being can be a continual work in progress, hopefully for the better, each day.

Moving on please, regarding those intrusive smart glasses, in Britain there are signs posted on all public transportation telling those who would wear them, not to or risk being called a nonce. Now, not knowing what a nonce could be I went to my preferred search engine and almost got sucked down a rabbit hole. It’s quite an interesting word so if anyone is interested in learning more, here is the link. https://www.slangsphere.com/what-does-nonce-mean-in-british-slang/

Enjoy 😁.

Guess I am doomed since I have had belly fat since I was 4 years old, always been round. Just the way I am built. I have spent decades trying to lose it but am finally coming to terms with that is the way my body is. I’m reasonably active and eat well, but still have a belly. Could I stand to lose 30 pounds? Sure, probably could lose 40, but the effort to get there and keep there is like,y worse than just being the weight I am.

And I guess the story about deep fakes and AI kind of negates Trump’s assertion that he has the brains to control it.
