I like true stories about people who overcame tough circumstances. I’ve downloaded the book. Thanks!

I could do a ditto comment like Gayle - loved your opening story & I also followed the link!! Thank you!

no ill personal comments about the Pope, however I'm not fond of the Catholic church. After the many many years of denying the pedophilia happening & the transfer of the guilty priests, what shame!! And I'm glad they now can bless the marriages or at least accept gays but they still can't accept female priests?? I have a very dear friend who was, yes was, catholic, married, caught her husband in bed w/ another woman, she filed for divorce, her father, a fine upstanding member of the catholic church, who was a known adulterer, thought divorce was more of a sin. She also found out years later her brother was raped when he was an altar boy.

War stories are always good reminders of how soft we have gotten. That gentleman had a very interesting life. His writing kind of reminded me of my dad’s journal. He grew up on the Prairies in the 1930’s, and a lot of the entries were “saw a train today.”

Never give the pope much thought, always thought it was just another old boys club trying to tell women how they should live their lives. Organized religion has caused more wars than it ever ended.

And the Apple story is another reason I have Google devices. I have to use a Mac at work and it’s so backwards.

I agree with all you said except the apple/google thing. There really is no difference other than google’s attempt to monopolize search. Google just forgot to pay a ransom.

Another thought - visiting the Alamo & reading the hand written letters of those postered - makes me sad for those who can’t read actual handwritten vs printed - I bought a book there written by a kid of his journal titled “Company H” —- however if you go thru the presentation of this, in this kid’s words it’s difficult to understand the “H” in the audio Southern pronunciation—- loved it
