This is a story about ordinary people making a good deal of money.
A couple of years ago, a writer named Jason Fagone realized the dream of nearly every nonfiction author I know: he wrote an 11,000-word story for the Huffington Post that went viral, then got optioned for a movie.
The story doesn’t stop there, as it sometimes does with Hollywood productions. We’ve recently learned that it’s actually being filmed—and will star big-name actors like Bryan Cranston, Anette Benning, Larry Wilmore, and Rainn Wilson.
Now, Fagone isn’t the subject of my “ordinary people making a good deal of money” line, as I don’t know how much he gets as part of this production. Honestly, it’s probably not as much as I once dreamed this kind of deal would be.
But the people he wrote about? That’s literally another story—and I have to admit it’s a good one.
