I saw a joke the other day—more of a meme, actually. I wish I could find the original to credit it, but as my grandmother used to say, they’ll get their reward in heaven. It went like this:
Sylvester Stallone: “Guys, let’s do an action movie about composers! I’ll be Beethoven!”
Jean-Claude Van Damme: “I’ll be Mozart!”
Arnold Schwarzenegger: “I’ll be … Oh, no way. I’m not saying it.”
I like that kind of joke; I had to think for a second — “I’ll be Schubert?” “I’ll be Wagner?”
Oh wait, I get it. Anyway, it has new relevance today thanks to two things from over the weekend:
First, the news that Tom Brady un-retired, and will return for a 23rd season in the NFL as quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Second, an article I happened to come by in the WSJ, about how people who retired early due to the pandemic are trying to figure out what happens next. They profiled three people:
