I believe that being positive is worth a try. When my doctor told me that we are now more concerned with health span versus lifespan, I replied. I’m more worried about funspan. If I’m going to live to 90 or 100 I want to have a positive experience. And attitude plays such a huge part of that! So no more black diamonds, wishing to parachute out of a plane or any of those things I thought I could do when I was young younger, and relatively immortal.
I’m with you and Dixie! Living a long time is only worth it if you are enjoying yourself and having fun. Quality of life is the focus, and as I’ve often heard, “motion is the lotion.”
I coincidentally just ran across this article (while reading Nice News) by Pater Petrow about his book “Stupid Things I Won’t Do When I Get Old.” Here is a link:
It's not that being positive is the thing. It's realizing there's nothing new under the sun, accepting it, and knowing "this too shall pass" leads to better life outcomes for us boomers. Corrupt president? Been there, Nixon. Oil supply disruption? Done that, OPEC 1973. War against our own citizens? That too, Mccarthy.

What you’ve written is so true. And I adopted Max Ehrman’s, “DESIDERADA” years ago when my world felt crazy and out of control. Its philosophy does wonders for the soul.
Re your Other Things articles, I would refer readers to Judd Legum’s Popular Information Substack for today if you don’t normally check it out.
I read with admittedly great joy that Delta Airlines has suspended its concierge service to members of Congress during this TSA non-funding spree. General impression by the traveling public has been overly positive and would like it if other airlines would follow suit.
The story about the patient who wouldn’t leave; same thing happened at my hometown(Asheville, NC)hospital(HSA). I could probably dig up the details if there were any further interest in the story.
As for positivity, I’m positive I’m here today 👍🏻 and that it’s going to be another hot day. Beyond that, who knows?
I think some people are just born with a positive outlook (I am one of them) and others will always be negative. It’s the glass half full or empty all over. There is so much to be negative about in the world today, I do my best to bring something positive wherever I go. I had a great role model. My mom learned to use computers in her early 90’s. She was still playing. Mean game of crib, loved jigsaw puzzles and cross stitch, and had more going on in her life at 90 than I did on my 50’s. Mindset is so important, don’t focus on what you can’t do, enjoy what you can, and do your best to keep being able to do.
There is something stinky in the oil business, but it’s not that surprising that people are making big bucks off other people’s suffering. Been that way for all of civilization

What a great attitude - I'm going to follow your lead!
