Bill-

Don't worry about the 7 things.

Take two weeks off, enjoy your family and friends and come back relaxed knowing that we enjoyed your " best of" redo's. You're working probably 49 weeks out of the year and thinking about your business 24/7-you're in the top 1% of today's workforce.

Ah, vacation, or in my world, staycation as I don’t need to vacate to relax. Actually, I bet that some of us find leaving home not to be very relaxing. As a situation that I used to be in where everyone would go to camp, clean when we got there, clean when we left and then clean at home. That to me is not a vacation. Or there’s going to hotels which might have bed bugs or smelly sheets or loud neighbors isn’t very relaxing. Then if you’re traveling by car? Lots of sitting and traffic or windy one lane roads with traffic. By plane? Who’d even want to deal with that? But staying at home, sleeping in when you want, dining out when you want, doing chores that take time and make you feel good because they’re finally done. There’s something to say about that. I’m in my 70’s with a very physical job, so my days off are Thursday and Sunday and every 6th week is a staycation. I get to enjoy all of the seasons and save money.

I’m looking forward to two weeks of community (rather than reader) input. Bill, you have created a great resource that stimulates others to share as if we lived in a small New England town with green where people actually talked and listened to one another. Now here’s your personal challenge. Stay off the green for the two weeks you are away. Come back ready to discover what happened during your time away. Your response to what we’ve done during your absence will easily give you a string of newsletter articles! Thank you for Understandably.com. You deserve the time off!!!!

Regarding your Summer 2022 poll. Retired doesn't always mean "always on vacation". I look at what I do now and wonder how I got it done and work at the same time!

So, I typed in 7 things into Google to get prepping for your vacation. The whole first page of results was Miley Cyrus. So folks, we can have Bill or this (PLEASE come back from vacation).

I'd rather have two Dad jokes any time! I'd just like to say, "Thanks!". Now, go enjoy your time off.

Enjoy your vacation. Two weeks without you will be rough. We will all have to make extra appointments with our therapists.

Concerning the Trump search. It’s not the warrant or list of seized items that I want to see. It’s the affidavit showing the justification for a search warrant that will be interesting.

I was to be in Paris today, the culmination of a two week cruise that hit pause due to Covid in 2020 & 2022. This year, two days prior to travel, I had symptomatic Covid - the positive test restricted travel (cruise line still requires testing) Once my husband and I recovered, I used my time productively but on my terms- did no resume full work schedule, said yes to spontaneous opportunities etc. Today is yoga and massage at a wellness spa with friends (not quite dinner on the Seine but awesome nonetheless) Thanks for asking :-) Love the newsletter, planning to upgrade!

I am a workaholic but am saved by this habit (that my family has commented favorably on - when working, focus on work; when with family on vacation , discus entirely on family!

As to a site, I like this one as it seems to give you unadulterated facts (unlike news). I have lightly done due diligence to be sure I am not wrong on lack of bias (readers straighten me out if wrong). Probably old news to many but I subscribe to info@usafacts.org.

Enjoy your vacation abd don't send any content, just a Subject line entry" "Still on vacation". That way we will really appreciate you when your content returns to your column 🤣

After a day off this week and returning to a deluge of emails at work, the idea of deleting all emails when I return from a holiday sounds very appealing. Good Lord.

As for the low power mode, I think that you should let your new contributors take the reigns while you are on holidays. They are more than capable of contributing the essays for the two-week period without the addition of the 7 things worth knowing, unless something really jumps out at them.

Have a wonderful vacation time Bill! Enjoy! Will miss you!

I cannot remember a time that I didn’t work while on vacation. Kind of kills the whole concept of recharging and enjoying the family.

I hope you’re able to make that work; you will not regret two weeks of uninterrupted relaxation. You will regret having to restart the vacation engine each time you consider working.

I truly hope you get the R and R that you look forward to. Thank you again for this wonderful community you have created through your thoughtful writing. You have certainly earned a vacation. Perhaps you might consider posting some of the "best of" comments you get. I enjoy that feature of this so much. Perhaps group them by category- ; the funniest. the most thoughtful. the most unusual etc.

Bill,

I agree with Paul Scott Duesterdick, Enjoy your time off. However, it might be fun to change up the "7 other things worth knowing today" while you are on vacation, if you choose to do so. Just an idea for us to get to know you a little better...

7 other things worth knowing...

...Bill's favorite foods.

...greatest distractions.

...on my "Bucket List".

...Bill's best vacation destinations.

...People I'd like to meet.

...Favorite books.

...Dream vacations.

...Favorite athletes, sports personalities.

...Sportscar wish list.

These are just some ideas. You could even do just 1 a day, just to get us thinking. Or not.

Thanks for a great format!
