Dear Bill,

You are too funny and I personally forgive you. Hard to be human.

And as for auto correct:

Many years ago I texted from a hospitol my husband was having a Splenectomy and it autocorrected to Penectomy.... you can just imagine the texts I got back. Haha, enjoy your day

I love reading your newsletter each day and have noticed some of these mistakes. I also know that I make plenty and that having them pointed out hurts. Proofing your own work has got to be difficult as I’m sure you are like most and read what you “meant” to say not what is there. Keep writing a great daily paper and know that you are trusted.

Your typos and minor errors are actually enjoyable in that it makes you more relatable. Correct such errors as needed and move on.

Only certain demographics would be triggered by your “suburban dads” expression/reference. The rest of us don’t care about all this inclusivity sensitivity and bulls***. GROW A PAIR. And yes, that’s not inclusive either. Who cares? Get a life, people!!!! WTF?

Just proofread everything. Our culture has gotten to accustomed to blaming autocorrect for our errors. Like the proviso people put at the bottom of their missives: excuse any typos as this was sent from a mobile device. We should all take the extra time to check for errors not just proactively apologize for them. Thanks for writing the blog I enjoy it

The word "brand" gave me immediately the eeby jeebies. Subscribing to you was a one off for me. I can't remember how I met up with you but I remember my thought process: let me see what this amicable guy digs up every day that is different from the rest of the media noise I find myself exposed to. I respect that you want to grow and that you want to make a buck, for sure. But the moment anything becomes a brand, the authenticity I crave and that you offer at this point in a smashingly eclectic way will become compromised. I am sure you will be super successful and I wish you the best of luck. But I will be sad as hell.

Precision and clarity in writing is both highly appreciated (by me and many others) and difficult to do. Even proof-reading your own work will result in some glitches sneaking through, because your mind knows what you meant to say. That said, I certainly appreciate the high quality of your writing and the diversity of the topics covered. Kudos to you, and thank you!

I appreciate your dedication to trustworthiness. Your ability to articulate as a writer is why I subscribed. The fact that I can trust you is why I stayed.

It’s safe to say that the 7 mishaps you listed today are not the focus of 7 things worth my time:). Some of these mistakes are so small they are not worthy of ducking behind a barrage of explanations as to how or why they happened. They are simply not duckworthy.

Your integrity and hard work show through in every pubic post you offer, mistakes and all. I’d bet my wife (who recently bought a snowblower with our recalculated IRS return money) that she will be really riveted to the next newsletter to come out regardless of any error it may contain. You’re a shoe-in to be a valued part of our morning news routine.

I can only hope that the last seven mistakes that I have made in my life are as inconsequential as the seven you have listed today. I do try to proofread things and find it interesting that I am much better at proofreading other writers work than my own and maybe this is something that you might want to muse about some day?

I read your blog religiously and do not have problems with an occasional gaffe as this is how humans ( which is inclusive of "suburban dads"and "suburban moms", as well as all life forms so that I do not denounce some overly sensitive group...) live. We aren't perfect and writing a column every day is going to result in a few miscues, but I will gladly endure that in exchange for interesting comments, well written and without acrimony or bias. Keep up the great work and I hope you are successful in finding some advertising dollars as I would miss your daily observations!

Bill, typos or autocorrects all fall into the “oops, my bad” category. All understandable and forgivable, at least by this reader. Those happen to all on these so-called “smart” phones, pads or books. As for fidelity to facts, that should be a no brainer. As a publisher your presented facts of course should be accurate and if found to be faulty, should be corrected immediately. Do that and your golden with me.

Pedantic. Love the word.

Not too fond of the person who could be described as such.

For the record, there should be some sensitivity towards how we approach our comments about people. It has nothing to do with “growing a pair”.

It’s just respectful.

LOL you opened a big ol' can of worms Mr. Murphy, Jr. I re-read the public vs pubic and found another in the same article. Buses is plural of bus. Busses would be plural of buss-defined as a kiss. "....as support for a boycott of the Montgomery busses brewed. " and "Eventually the busses were desegregated, but as much because of an accompanying lawsuit..." It is a good thing when kisses are desegregated, IMO. The topic is no laughing matter but the typo does make the sentences amusing. After all, we do need to laugh more because laughter can take the fearful, monstrous, and hurtful things in the world and make them less so. Sorry to pick on you but thanks for starting out my day with a laugh and in the end the world does need more laughter.

Well, you know the old saying, "the only sure way to avoid mistakes is to do nothing". Having said that, it is a fact that, right or wrong, error free writing is an important factor in our credibility. I use Grammarly for that very reason.

I knew that I liked you from the very first newsletter, Bill. You are a broad-minded, interesting, and talented writer. Initiating a dialogue on the subject of your trustworthiness speaks volumes about who you are. The experiences from my own life have shown me that trustworthiness rests on the pillars of INTEGRITY and CANDOR, and I see those traits in your newsletters every day, Bill.
