Be patient, Bill, the ocean will likely move your way!

Soon (if not already) there will be more federal law enforcement and military on the streets of DC than civilians. I wonder how crime rates in major Louisiana and Mississippi cities compare to DC? Shouldn’t they be managing their own crime problems rather than sending their NG to be performers in a reality show? According to stats it is significantly worse on New Orleans and Jackson.

According to the Poyter Institute: The Department of Justice noted this drop in a Jan. 3 press release, saying, "Violent crime for 2024 in the District of Columbia is down 35% from 2023 and is the lowest it has been in over 30 years."

I suppose you’ve read by now that 47’s DOJ has opened an investigation into the PD’s stats. Of course. Don’t like the numbers? Investigate, fire or otherwise work to fix the numbers so you’ll like them. Crime wasn’t bad enough in our Capital to justify his invasion so he’ll make them up now. Also, one of those super sized military vehicles hit a civilian’s SUV sending one to the hospital. People are worried about schools opening soon and these huge vehicles rolling in the streets and not looking out for kids walking to school.

Three guesses?

1. The beach.

2. 30 miles Southeast.

3. Jersey shore to rub elbows with JoJo from Jerz.

Not sure where you went but I’ll remind you that today my fellow North Carolinians out on the Outer Banks have had to evacuate because of that big blow that has been churning around the Atlantic the last couple or three days. While it’s not expected to land, the winds will again change the face of the barrier islands that really are special spots.

Regarding the statement from Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves “Crime is out of control (in DC), and it’s clear something must be done to combat it..." He may want to take care of his own backyard.

"In 2022, Mississippi had the highest murder rate in the U.S. at 20.5 homicides per 100,000 residents, .... Other states with high murder rates include Louisiana, Alabama, and New Mexico." - CDC
