Re your mission - why not delete "over 50"? To me that doesn't add substantive value and deleting it doesn't harm the intent.

I agree, dump the “over 50” phrase. I agree with the other poster; in addition, it might turn off the youngsters who ought to be reading you.

Your newsletter is appropriate for individuals younger than 50 so don't adopt a slogan that discourages younger readers. We need younger readers, much younger, to read balanced stories and supporting life long learning. I hope the " buy a cup of coffee" proves successful because as a paid subscriber I have hopes that you can continue this newsletter in its current form for a long time and understand that you need to have compensation. Good luck

over 50 <-- delete this.

I agree, drop the ageism. Buy me a coffee is a terrific solution to subscription fatigue - I hope it keeps the lights on.

Bill - add PayPal and Zelle to your coffee program. I pinky-swear you will get many more cups if people don't have to pull out a credit card 😃

I never even thought of that. Thanks!

Not a fan of your mission statement. It sounds like it's written because of your default audience rather than the audience you want to keep or attract.

Also the "leading a healthy and successful life" statement is not one I'm sure you want to aim for, as that space has major competitors for sponsorship dollars.

Besides, in my opinion, a lot of your newsletters are about "how we got here" via snippets of untold or forgotten history.

So. As a college professor once taught me, if you don't have a solution, you don't have an issue you have a complaint.

"Understandably is here to help you make sense of life in today's busy environment. From forgotten history to the latest studies, we seek to inform, enlighten, and maybe even surprise our readers. And hopefully have a little fun together along the way."

I appreciate your work, Bill, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it during the pandemic. Do what you must to keep the lights on and the good quality topics coming.

Does your mission statement really have to say "over 50"? It seems limiting, and I think your newsletter would be less attractive to a younger group. It's not time-consuming to read, which makes it very attractive to many.

Have you considered adding Zelle?

Trump calling Iran “unbelievably duplicitous” would be funny if that had been said by anyone else. It’s been fairly obvious from the beginning that it’s been the puppet in DC who finds himself in the middle of his war with no exit strategy who is duplicitous. As usual, every accusation is a confession.

I think people are finding that being under surveillance all the time is far more invasive than they thought it would be; like it was fine for “areas of high crime” but not my neighborhood. I was astounded to learn that the town I left behind was now using flock cameras. Now I’m glad I’m out of there.

If Gianni Infantino is counting on his buddy trump to pull his nuts out of the fire he started, I think Mr Infantino will be amazed at how fast he will become a persona non grata as far as trump is concerned. Trump doesn’t like losers and right now, Gianni is looking like a big one.

Just checked the latest news and Jeannine Pirro still has a job in spite of the fact that she brought charges against a man without having any proof in spite of insisting that she had plenty of proof. I’m sure she’ll be out as soon as trump can dig up someone worse than Pirro to serve in her place.

I think struggling colleges have been raiding scholarship funds to pay bills for years. A member of our family left a good sized chunk of change to be used for an academic scholarship. When it became obvious that scholarships were no longer being awarded, we tried to find out what had happened to the money but by that time, there was a new chancellor and a new board that hadn’t a clue. Very disappointing to say the least.

Good for Spider-Man. He could have helped me get the tarantula that crawled into my house under the door, back outside again. I did it but help would have been nice.
