Well, I will "bite." I often wonder what this 'Amazon Prime" is that I see plastered on dark colored trucks cruising the neighborhood. I have heard what Amazon is, of course, but just did not know (or care to know) what the Prime component was. So - they pay this kind of money JUST to have the shipping factored in? Maybe I am missing something. I can't IMAGINE. I can survive with having NO subscription services at all. At this stage of my life, I am not a consumer as much as I was in younger years but thanks for letting us know about all of this. I get as much "free" internet newspaper information as I can. Then I often get the message "this is your last free article."

I’m with Iris. As a matter of fact, I just checked my account info and will be updating my payment info so that it will be current when the time comes to renew my subscription in April. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I found you and I definitely want to continue. You and this newsletter are worth every penny Bill.

Really enjoy the newsletter, and even if you went up 16.8% like Prime, I would still join in!

Thanks for the fun reads! I too look forward to reading your newsletter every morning before I start reading anything else. I had to forward this newsletter to my husband who hasn’t met a taco he didn’t like.

The subscription I can't live without is Amazon Prime, mostly for the fast delivery but the TV network is getting better too. The one I regret the most is Hello Fresh. I was just kidding myself that it would encourage me to cook more often!

Good luck finding Maus on Amazon. All 3 offerings are sold out.

Thanks for Understandably as a Service (UaaS). I'm proud to be a subscriber and have benefited in many ways from the daily word taco. Great segue, also, from TaaS to UaaS ;0)

I enjoy every single article you publish. I am from India and most topics you choose to write on resonate with me. Confirms the fact , black or white , brown or yellow we all go through the same motions no matter where we are. Subtle differences remain. Like the piece on the “Great Resignation “. I don’t think the rationale behind why people are jumping jobs here is similar to those observed and established for the US. Nevertheless am amazed by the variety you so thoughtfully curate.

I refuse to buy from Amazon, read the Wall St. Journal rather than NYT and don't eat processed fast food. The point was?

I buy an annual family membership to a botanical garden…supporting a different garden each year. There is a “reciprocal gardens” program where those with an annual membership in a participating garden get free entrance to HUNDREDS of gardens nationwide! As a nature lover and bird watcher, gardens are beautiful places to wander. To be worth the value, you have to visit about 3 gardens a year. If you travel much, you get to see the most peaceful and beautiful spots in every city you visit.

I'm sure that things like "taco lover pass" are one of the quickest ways to get people sick of eating tacos for a very long time - faster and less controversially so than food scandals, I claim. How often can you really eat the same food, or from the same food group, in a short time period? Are you really going to eat 90 tacos over 3 months? If yes, then you'll hate tacos for years - at least get bored by them. If not, then you'll pay for a service of which you won't benefit (which is probably their hope). That's not a win-win situation, either way.

Subscriptions…..this is a whole new bailiwick, but one that needs to be addressed. I subscribe to writer organizations like NYTIMES, Washington Post, Guardian, Medium and Understandably. By the way, NYT and Wash Post just had ad campaigns to only pay $40/yr accounting for more subscription). I read these everyday to help with keeping up on what’s happening in the country and the world. I also enjoy the comments sections. There are a lot of very witty folks in this country and around the world. But now subscriptions have invaded TV. Paying $300/mo is way too much for cable with thousands of channels I have no interest in. So I cut the cord and am now picking up Prime, Netflix, HBOMAX and Acorn (mostly Brit murder mysteries). But the prices here are mounting and this year I have a subscriptions budget that’s creeping up. I hate ads, and that’s why I pay more. As to Amazon Prime? I can save on products and shipping, I get unlimited music that I use on my job and movies. One-stop-shop, so yes, basically I guess I’m lazy.

This is a kinda sorta somewhat pretty good ok service :-) Actually for those who have not signed up, about that free taco, is that a regular taco or a taco supreme?

Tacos could never hurt! 😀

Hi Bill. You got me.

Allow me to explain - since I believe one of your grails is in understanding the way the mind works.

As an educated person (7 varying degrees under my belt) and an educator I pride myself on reading to learn. I read many of the leadership articles you write across many platforms and my daily guilty pleasure is reading your newsletter. Bigger pleasure, yet not enough time, is Russian classics :) love Tolstoy. Enough about my drive to read, understand, reflect, and learn.

Among my inner circle I am oft referred to as being a penny-pincher (bonafide education administrator here). I lead a very nice lifestyle and don't want for anything. I believe this is in large part due to pinching my pennies. With what I have left, I believe in giving to others in need and donate monthly to non-profits designated as reputable organizations (DAV, St. Jude, waterboys, etc). Because my monthly finances are down to the penny, subscribing to your amazing newsletter means shifting finances and/or donating less monthly to those in need.

This creates quite the conundrum. I like my creature comforts and I am not willing to stop supporting others in need. Yes, this is $4.17 monthly. Bill, Why would I pay for something that I can get for free?

Enter morals. Perhaps if more people subscribed to your newsletter our world would be a better place. Seriously - perhaps on a small scale, but every person counts, right? Often your scribings make me think. I feel that skill is fading in our society. I appreciate that you and your team do not push agendas.

I've been loyaly reading your newsletter for quite some time, and forwarding articles when pertinent to others. This article spoke to me when you highlighted what others valued enough to subscribe to monthly. I value your newsletters and I value how your writing prompts thinking on my part.

Yes, I could continue to read for free; however, I think your service is more valuable than a taco and want to contribute to ensure your ongoing success.

Thanks Bill et al!

Doc
