All good reminders! Even if nothing radically new, when Tuesday hits you over the head with the realization that Monday — and, possibly, most of 2025, was a “Fail” in your mind on some important levels, it helps to have what feels like someone gently grabbing you be the shoulders, dragging you out of bed or off the couch, and pointing you in the direction of the “Monday (i.e., Lifetime) Recovery Plan,” a.k.a., “Tuesday Triage.”
Thanks, and I hope you feel better soon! The world needs your frequent slap in the face, even when it pisses us off, because it wakes us up and makes us think — and the laughter is healing and raises endorphins, which helps everything!
Remember the lesson of Norm Cousins in “Anatomy of an Illness” and do whatever you can to keep laughing!
Lovin' number 4. That's a pearl of wisdom right there. Interestingly enough, I was cleaning out some archived emails yesterday (okay, I was procrastinating) and I came across one of your oldies, but goodies on 'How to Say No'. That one deserves a repeat.
no matter what my Mondays are like, my Tuesdays sound like yours 😏 I have to edit to say, since I'm retired, I don't have "weekends", but we do look ahead to the rest of the week, & sometimes into the following week, to see what dances are planned, what game nights/days are scheduled, etc - all fun & games around here - w/ playing pool almost every day. The pest control guy came by yesterday as we were playing, or getting ready to play, & he stopped to chat, 'cause we were last ones on his route. Right before we start our pool game we ask a question out of a "book of questions" book. We did that before we were married, went thru 1 book, along w/ a bunch of questions found on-line. By the time were were married we had discussed every silly, controversial, religious, serious subject you could think of. We knew each other. For Christmas he bought me a new version which we're now going thru. Anyway (no "s" on that word 'cause I'm old), the pest control guy got asked the question PLUS learned the history PLUS was given a copy of the original book 'cause we bought extras... he LOVED it.
sorry your Monday was yucky, maybe to say the least... glad it sounds like your Tuesday is going a bit better - enjoyed reading your top list.
I'm writing my congressman telling 'em to quit being wimps, quit letting Trump act on so many executive orders, to have Congress actually pass some good LAWS. There ARE some changes that need to be happening, but the RIGHT way...
I recently watched "Conclave" on Hulu. It took me awhile to realize I read the book. I admit I have not watched the movie that won the Oscar for Best Picture and a ton of other Oscars but I can confidently say "Conclave" was much better and should gotten at least Best Picture! The book is fantastic too and it's especially timely now that there's going to be a real-life Conclave to elect a new Pope. I'm sure it won't be as exciting and dramatic and soap-opera-ish as the movie and book but fascinating nonetheless.
Oh happy day Bill. You’re better today and you had a plan to help with the ‘after’.
Being retired as I am with no place to go or people to see today, my bedtime is whenever as is my rising or when PNut starts licking my hand telling me it’s time for her to go out. I’ll always eat breakfast though. My oatmeal is to die for if I do say so myself, so I won’t miss it. By the time I finish and wash my dishes, it’s time to hit the email. Today though I decided to bathe my dog first. So I have accomplished something useful.
Now my emails and lunch. The day is flying by. Down here, night time comes about the same time every day; today sunset will be 6:33 and the sidewalks roll up a couple hours after that. Another day is done.
Ran across a little ditty on Bluesky the other day. For like this:
“If it’s Monday and you know it, stay in bed.
If it’s Monday and you know it, stay in bed.
If it’s Monday and you know it getting up will surely blow it
If it’s Monday and you know it, stay in bed.”
I did substitute the word Monday for “happy” so it can be sung that way too.
Unless we live in the sky, we are always under the weather.

Good easy read that also has the benefit of easing you back - nice cover!
Tom Homan should be ashamed and I am so glad Carney won.
The Monday triage items are great. My take is to get back to normal as soon as possible which includes sleep, diet, exercise and interests.

Yes, the right way, one that is for the American citizens.
