My grandmother did the NYT crossword puzzle daily. She could not be beat in scrabble. Unfortunately, dementia got her anyway after a loss of O2 to her brain during surgery (not for very long either) seemed to break the seal. She went from being this larger than life woman to a frail ghost of herself by the time she passed. It’s a terrible disease.
Have you ever tried the Lumosity app? It's developed by teams of neuroscientists, psychologists and a few others to assist with brain function. I used to get frequent migraines, but using Lumosity has helped fend off those attacks for quite a while. Also, it's fun.
Not at all surprised Germans know that song and many others of US origin. Public singing in most of Europe is common. Speaking English in Germany is very common. Apparently, unlike this American, they can carry a tune as well. 😊
I just finished reading Younger Next Year. The authors talk a lot about brain health and how to keep your brain younger and growing, long with how to keep your body younger as well. Maintaining good health as we age is everyone’s personal responsibility. Like I tell my GP, I am old, flat and tired, but I can do something about all those things. My mom was playing crib and scrabble and doing crosswords and cross stitch and knitting and gardening and getting out for walks well into her late 90’s. She has provided a good role model for her children and grandchildren.
The newsletter seems to have lost its formatting. I read Understandably in my email. Today, it is much larger than the "email read panel" on the screen of my rather large work laptop. That means that I have to move the bar at the bottom left and right to read each line. I checked a previous Understandably email from 11/9 and it still displays with formatting. That makes me think there was a change on your end. I clicked on the view it in the browser button and got coding jibberish.

Isn't it awesome and wonderful how music can unite us?
Wow, the Afghan abduction/adoption is a disturbing read.
Agreed, truly disheartening and heartbreaking. I'm interested to know how we can help or keep up with the story in the future

“Country Roads”, along with many other songs, is often sung during Oktokberfest celebrations.

Reads the same as usual on my end.
Yes, I am 66 and buy bargain crossword books, 20 at a time. It takes about a month to finish one, but it does stimulate the mind
