Just so you are aware, the physical format of your column was about half its normal width.

What to do with the comments about what do we tell our younger selves? Well, my Dad used to say nothing changes. His parents worried about the influence of modern music (which to me the 20's was so innocent), he worried about the Stones and the Beatles and I just don't get house.

So I'm sure people have been asking the same question as yours through the ages. As times change, so do the way we respond but the messages are probably the same. A lot of research but how the responses to the question through time and how they address the same underlying message might be an interesting read.

And if you think NJ to NH is a long drive, let me invite you to the world of my youth. Getting up in the morning and deciding a 1,000 non-stop trip was just what I needed.

“Our sires’ age was worse than our grandsires’. We, their sons, are more worthless than they; so in our turn we shall give the world a progeny yet more corrupt.”

I will add my grain of salt. As people look for work, companies really need to step up their game in order to get people interested. Time to remove outdated testing modalities like keyboarding and GAT tests, which are not good indicators of how people will actually perform on the job. Let's get real now.

I wonder if the survey regarding Amazon was corporate only as several distribution centers are or have voted to unionize.

On math books being censored for elementary schools, I realized that a lot of books are all inclusive with photos of children from different races, religions, etc just like tv shows. I had a client who was agitated about ads with so many mixed rave couples. She was a former high school teacher. I asked her if her students were dating interracially. She said Yes. Then I reminded her that the ads were just reflecting what’s actually happening. It was an ah-ha moment. The schoolbooks are the same. Just reflecting what the children are seeing in their world. To make the pictures reflect an all white world would be alien to most children.

Yes, but she could actually have an ah ha moment. DeInsanititis? Not so much.

One of the best things about being retired is I no longer have to spend enormous amounts of psychic energy on who is hiring or where my career is going. It’s too late. And I don’t care. But I love reading about people who are slogging through this minefield anyway. Sort of like the people living in Florida who love reading about folks stranded in blizzards in New York.

I’m right there with you about being retired and not really caring one way or the other about finding a job-at least not right this second. Besides, should I ever need to get out and go to work, my keeper will have to roll me there on my deathbed in all likelihood.

Advice to younger self: Be tenacious, but don't be a jerk.

Advice to younger self? Not sure whether I would. I mentor and advise younger people in a number of different settings. I avoid any comments such as ‘if I were you’. I might ask open questions linked to ‘why’, ‘what else’ or have you… That’s the sun of the advice, ‘think, and then decide. Regardless of outcome, at least there is some analysis and reflection.

I watched one episode of "Old Enough" (found myself quite anxious while watching) and could not believe this was a real thing. Kudos to JJapan where these children can do this & not be snatched or adversely compromised. Grant it a tv camera is following them so I guess that is some protection.

OK, all you parents of toddlers - could your smart kid do what the kid in "Old Enough" did? (My nephew at 5 directed his one grandmother, who was from out of state, to the other grandmother's house, a 20 minute trip from his home.)
