By the way, 6 weeks to get our fridge fixed. After only 4 years, ours went out. Our old one, which we also still use, is over 20 years old and is still working great!

This is awesome. I’m sure others have had stories similar to this…I have…but, although they played out in real life, the rest just stayed in my head for a few hours or days, then got swallowed up by the rest of my life.

This helps me process the gratitude I should have more deeply embraced at those times.

Wow! Whenever we would get stuck in traffic or get a flat tire my mom would say: “God may be saving us from something worse”. It changes your perspective and helps you be grateful in the middle of those annoyances.

What an incredible story! This brought tears to my eyes! Happy tears. I’m a true believer that things occur for a reason. Even when we struggle with the circumstances, when an outcome like this plays out… it’s nothing short of magical. Thank you for pushing yourself for another (little) human. Hope you are able to rest up and recover from being sick. Our world needs humans like you back in (full) action!

Romans 8:28 we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

Esther 4:15 … and who knows but that you have come into your position for such a time as this.

Was walking alongside a usually busy NYC street and saw a maybe 3 yr old girl wandering in the middle of said street. Scooped her up in my arms and saw an open door on the block so I knew where she belonged. Mother did not know she had gotten out. Nowhere as dramatic as your story, but I was at the right place at the right time.

A fortune stroke of serendipity. That little girl would give you a bear hug if she only knew.

Everything happens for a reason, even those little, petty annoyances.

Luckily you are still in good shape.

P.S. How big was that fridge, really? 🤔

I have experienced many situations that made me step back and look at the sequence of events that improbably led me to being in a specific place at a specific time with an unexpected result.

I strongly believe things happen for a reason. Though the reason may not be revealed to you in the moment, some day you may be lucky enough to understand.

My trivial example is a very convoluted story, which resulted in my discovery and retrieval of my cell phone from a trash can sitting at a curb for pick up.

I did not know my phone was missing. This happened before apps to locate your phone were common and before cell phones were so central to our everyday lives.

I was in my SUV with my window rolled down, right next to the trash can when my cell phone started ringing from inside the trash can. I wasn’t even expecting a call, and as it turned out, the call wasn’t really for me.

This wasn’t quite a the life changing event your story recounts, but I have never forgotten the incident. I also still can’t back a trailer up with a vehicle, which is what I was trying to do while events unfolded.

Wow, great story. Isn't it crazy how life works? We had an experience very similar with my husband's mother Pat, who at the time was unable to walk after having suffered a few strokes. We would visit her every week and bring her one of the recipes she liked cooking when she was younger. Ever hear about a big explosion due to PG&E's faulty maintenance in San Bruno California? Well, Pat lived exactly one minute by car up the road from that explosion. We were I'm positive the last people to cross over that explosion site before it blew, just about the time we were walking into her frontdoor. Anyone who was in the direct vicinity of the explosion died from the fire. We were able to get Pat along with her caretaker away from the area. The caretaker did not have a car and would not have been able to evacuate Pat or herself. And here's the interesting part, I always have five last minute things to do before I walk out the door. Oh, honey, I just have to ... That day, I grabbed the dinner and left without one last minute item on my list. Coincidence or divine guidance? I'm a believer in the later. Thanks for sharing this. Hope you're feeling better soon.
