I think “dark money” is behind the interest in Greenland and the Panama Canal. It would be poetic justice if Greenland aligned with Canada, at least until “dark money” goes after Canada as well!
The big picture: Trump wants to concede Ukraine to Putin because the US “dark money” wants Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal. They want to divide the globe up into territories, I.e., Russia, USA, China, India, Middle East. Unsure about Australia.
LOVE the School of Rock story. And they got married about 1 1/2 miles from my house. I wouldn't know them if I fell over them, but they picked a spectacular venue.
I spent a while trying to figure out who they were in the movie. Not the top billed actors but memorable enough. I definitely enjoyed that movie back then, plus there's now a "School of Rock" franchise that I pass driving my daughter to school every day.
Both of my kids went to School of Rock. My son for drums and my daughter for electric guitar. She didn't stick with it but he did. The concerts were fun. They were held at night clubs and bars, but during the day. No riff raff, just parents and kids rockin' out.
Regarding landlords colluding on rent amounts, this one resonates with me. We own a rental home now and have owned others in the past. We manage it ourselves. The temptation to go with a property manager is considerable, and they market us aggressively. We use a large online service only to vet applicants -- they pay the fees to perform credit and background checks that would be exorbitant for a landlord with a single property like us. I can identify other nearby properties that are with large property management companies. The listings read the same, the photos have a common layout/sequence/POV, and their listed rents are predictably consistent. We look at those and undercut their rent amounts by 20%. Large property managers have a lot of turnover because they nickel/dime tenants, and raise rents every year by the max amount allowed by law. We never raise rent on tenants as long as they are in the house, and we pay for pest control, lawn treatment, irrigation/sprinkler water, furnace filters, and also do preventive maintenance on major systems, also at our expense. We have almost no turnover, and our tenants always treat the property as if they owned it themselves. It's not complicated. "Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than this." (Mark 12:30-31)
Well, the fires and Jimmy Carter's funeral threw me for a loop this week.
I lived in LA for many years and know most of the areas where the fires are burning; probably know someone who lost a house. I still can't believe the images I've seen.
Although unlikely, it would be nice to see the Trump administration do something about housing and climate change seeing that both have affected LA and the country. Instead, he focuses on the shiny thing that crosses his path.
Thanks for the School of Rock story. That was a lovely distraction from all the other things going on this week.
A Greenland/Canada get together would really chap a certain person off.
I just donated to the World Central Kitchen as they once again pull out all the stops to help out in the fire zone. They were so good about being in Asheville and Western NC after Helene that it was payback time. I cannot imagine the horrors those poor people are going through now. Floods, fires and I just read where there was a bit of an earthquake off the coast of San Francisco and near LA as well. AP reported that.
Our new NC Attorney General, Jeff Jackson, joined in that big lawsuit over rent fixing as the developer is in that part of the state. I hope the lawsuit prevails but in this day of robber barons, who knows?
Yes, toys as a rule are a scam. Parents and grandparents go overboard and for what? Learn your lesson Bill?
Haven’t read how to find things yet but will. Go to go make my oatmeal for the week ahead first.
I have a kind of school of rock story. I was in band in high school, one year we did an exchange with a band from a different province. We had a dance for the two bands, a sock hop kind of thing. I danced a lot with the drummer from the other band because I knew that drummers had to have a good sense of rhythm. The next day, we went to a dude ranch and this guy kept throwing me into the creek - I thought my dad was going to come to blows.
Two weeks after the exchange, I got a letter from this guy asking if I had his comb. which I did not. But that started many years of correspondence. I met his family several times over the years, and 25 years later, we got married. I found out later that the conductor of his band had a real struggle getting the guy back on the bus because he wanted to stay. And he got home and told him mom he met his future wife. Funny how things work out.
my heart goes out to those in Los Angeles. I cannot imagine how devastating it must be to lose everything you own and have to flee in terror. I have family that live in Jasper who went through something similar in the summer. They, too, lost everything but the clothes on their back. Doesn't matter how much money you or how big your house is, the loss is still unfathomable.
And I think Trump is just blowing smoke about Greenland. A military takeover would get incredibly messy, as both countries are part of NATO. I just hope he doesn't start world war III. And no, Canada does not want to join the U.S.
Let the people of Greenland be whoever they want to be...as for lost objects, vis a' vis St. Anthony...I ask his assistance and viola! I find whatever it is I've "lost" or more likely, misplaced as long as it's in the house. If you lose something away from home you may as well just forget about it...it's gone! Get another if it's replaceable, if not, then you just have to let it go...move on and live without it.

I know…crazy thinking, but who knows?
