Good post! I’ve been waiting for someone like Turtledove to write an alternative history of a Gore presidency. Linda Tripp is a good fictional starting point, but you could also start by taking Nader off the ballot (perhaps a car accident where he wasn’t wearing his seat belt -- the irony!), or maybe a competent Florida Democratic Party that decided the butterfly ballot was a dumb idea. But Tripp sells more books because there’s nothing like a sex scandal to make headlines, right?
Life might have been much better with Gore instead of Chaney. Halliburton probably wouldn’t be as profitable. At least Liz is balancing the scales a little!

I didn't follow the sordid story. Too busy at the time. What a hiccup in our history! And what a horrible cost for a 21 year old intern! Damn ! ! !
One other major potential consequence of the event? The Climate Crisis might have been largely forestalled by now (unlikely, but possible). At least it would have been 20 years into a great fight.
