odd .. i don't have a tiktok account so i didn't sign into anything. were you able to watch the youtube one at the end? that's the main one people have watched today.
It's strange and usually on Insta I see tt without problems. I was at the time reading on ipad and each link required a signup... so strange... I loved the article and needed a reason to distract myself!
I struggle with people wasting their time watching videos on any platform. And for society to pay someone to make the videos is even more absurd. Too many people are suffering in this world that do not even have access to such nonsense that could use the help in their lives. Sorry, not a TikToc guy.
It's entertainment, its not for everyone but if you pay actors who entertain you in a movie theater or on tv, why not pay entertainers for short content? Instead of sitting in front of a tv set or in a movie theater for 2 hours, some people choose to watch short form content for 2 hours. They are still providing a service that people enjoy and value. Again, not for everyone but its still an art form and it has value.
"Sometimes the solution isn't to adapt your dreams to fit the world, but instead to adapt the way you interact with the world to achieve your dreams." - I think it's the most heartfelt sentence I have ever read in a newsletter. Thank you for this Bill. As an artist, a dreamer, and an entrepreneur, these words hit home. Loved today's story (as usual).
Why is irony is so funny? Because we can relate. I love to watch short funny reels because sometimes life can get so depressing or stressful, that laughter pops you out of the gloom and doom and reminds you how silly life can be. I enjoyed the video clips.
The same ability allowed Rowan Atkinson to become fabulously rich off Mr. Bean (which was a worldwide phenomenon - I seem to recall a story about an English hostage who said the worst thing was being mocked by Somali pirates for looking like Mr. Bean). Before Rowan Atkinson, think Benny Hill. Same thing - sold everywhere because required no translation.
I just thought of another: Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Absolutely ridiculous but also outstanding. And John Crease’s Faulty Towers? As good as I Love Lucy.
This may not have been hilarious to the hostage at the time, but it’s filling my day with “funny” now. Imagine being held captive by ruthless pirates, wondering if you will survive, then breaking down in an interview later, “They said I looked like Mr. Beannnnnn!” This just makes my day.
Fantastic main story with a great outcome. I watched all the clips you included. If I were a Tic-Tocker, I’d probably lose my day watching him. Most great ideas are born of simplicity I’m thinking.
It is frustrating to be expected to sign in just to watch any of the video links posted. I wasn’t able to watch them without signing in.
Not sure what I did differently, but I watched them just fine without signing in to the evil time-waster. Lol

On my PC I was able to access the links. It seems as though my iPad is the trouble maker in this case. Perhaps a setting I'm unaware of.

Funny article.
Difficult to have any sympathy for Harvey!

I second this. (Although I’m no artist. Haha)

This guy is so funny. I was cracking up the whole time. The one with the zip-tied glass killed me!
