"Educated guess" about the hottest day is right! They need to say something like "in recorded times". How would anyone know how hot the summer of 378 A.D. or 845 A.D. or even 1632 A. D. was in North America?

Science. There are many ways to predict what temps were throughout history. That’s why they call it an “educated” guess. This might help shed some light:

There was an adage: Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. But I was one of those parents who couldn’t sleep until the kids were home, including one who worked an evening shift and wasn’t home until 12:30- 1am. So my internal clock got reset and now going to bed by 10 only happens if I’m sick, even though the kids are no longer living at home.

I also found that arting or crafting during those hours allowed me to go into a zen mode without disruption or feeling like I should doing something else like a chore, and I am more productive with those activities. So, I wonder if there’s any correlation with people who are creatives and staying up late. I know of others who also enjoy the creative process late night/wee hours of the morning.

I know the 'zen mode' during crafting, but I'm a morning person, never did late night crafting/art... when I wake up early tho the brain starts going so I sometimes get some little bursts of creativity of things to try

I'm definitely a morning person - have been for a long time. Enjoyed getting up before the kids, having my coffee, peaceful time...

It is challenging! Since you asked:

1. Set a consistent time for lights out and getting up. If you sleep in only add 30 minutes, and that is after 3-4 weeks of developing your new schedule.

2. Establish a bed time routine that cover an hour or so and includes NO screen time of any kind. Reading is a great way to relax your mind.

3. Don’t drink alcohol for at least 2 hours before bed.

4. Leave 4 hours between eating and sleeping.

5. No caffeine 6+ hours before bed.

6. A warm shower will

Help.

7. Have a cool room. There is a lot of research on sleeping temps.

8. Eliminate white or blue lights in your bedroom/bathroom. You can purchase red night lights and alarm clocks.

9. Don’t have a TV in bedroom.

10. Make sure your curtains eliminate outside light.

11. Many people line a low (brown noise) fan. There are many machines that mimic those frequencies. I personally don’t like white noise which is too high pitched. I happen to use a LectroFanEVO sound machine I like a lot. For travel

I use my iPad/phone with an app called White Noise Ambience.

Good luck!!

Beth, as crafting people, I bet we would have to be really creative to work w/ the space, or lack thereof, in the studio apartments described
