I've had some pretty sweet finds, not on Craig's List (never been lucky with that), but on Facebook virtual garage sale groups in my surrounding area. I bought a FitBit Versa 2 and the nicest made in Canada from Audvik ski pants and parka you could ever hope to own for a fraction of their original prices.
Craigslist was AMAZING! I had just returned from New Zealand in 2015 and we didn’t have a car, a house or any furniture as we had only our suitcases and ten boxes in transit from NZ with a few household items. The story is too long to post here but practically all the furniture was found on Craigslist! Sure, there were some bad experiences when looking around but I also found treasure out there. When looking at our dining room table that the seller had on Craigslist I asked if she would consider selling me her living room furniture as well — she sold it to me! When we went to pick up everything she even threw in five or six beautiful tablecloths - free!
Great story Bill! I didn’t know the back story! Love reading your newsletter. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Love Craigslist! I’ve sold lots of furniture there, found an apartment, and even got a full-time job with benefits as a reporter at a trade publication.
Definitely write the book. When I was in grad school my advisor recommended I write a book about cats or dogs, and then I would have the funds to write what I wanted, because people are crazy about their pets and love a good book about them.
You are lucky, you already get to write what you want. I cool story about your dog and the travels you went on would just be icing. But I for one would enjoy reading it.
And thanks for the positive story about CraigsList…we don’t see to many of those.
Hi Bill, great newsletter as always, Craigslist story interesting, but...story of Lily and you taking her back to visit her other owners, priceless! You are a special human indeed!! I'd be first in line to buy your book!
Writer Jon Katz has many print books on his dogs and other animals, he is now only writing about them on his blog (bedlamfarm.com). My daily diet of 3 dog love.
Back in the day on Craigslist, I would get up maybe 1,000 ads a day in car sections nationwide. But they kept changing the algorithm. Now they charge.
I think the only thing my parents ever got on Craigslist was scammed.
Bill, what is your email address?
Thanks for giving me some interesting news and data points to go with my 1st coffee. I look forward to hearing from you!

On a sadder note, Canada is grieving the loss of 10 people killed and 18 wounded by stabbing in the province of Saskatchewan on Sunday. One of the suspects was found dead. One is still at large. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/suspects-mass-stabbings-weldon-james-smith-saskatchewan-1.6572876?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=The%20Peak%20-%20September%206%202022&utm_content=The%20Peak%20-%20September%206%202022+CID_1baea21f00edc975667e883b9c4464ad&utm_source=ThePeak&utm_term=CBC
Thank You for sharing the news story helpful and I am cognizant and prayerful. Susan/USA.
I’ve sold many things on CL, most quite fast.
Nope. Never bought nor sold anything from Craigslist.
My husband has, however, used our local Facebook Marketplace site to buy and sell some things …

I met my life partner on Craigslist! We’re celebrating our 16th anniversary this weekend. 😍
Most definitely write the book about Lily. It sounds like the makings of a great story!
