You writing about about Independence Day has me thinking about Canada Day July 1st. As we prepare to celebrate Canada Day, I'm feeling particularly proud to be a friendly Canadian. I'm a big fan of the country rock artist from Cochrane, Ontario, Mitch Jean. Mitch is a full-time musician that is not only a great entertainer, he is just a real pleasant person to be around.

I started listening to his Cheers to Friday! live streams last September, and I now look forward to listening to those live streams every Friday night, even enjoying the replays often too as I get work done around the house.

As Mitch gets closer to monetizing his YouTube channel (needs 1000 subscribers, currently has 743), I invite the readers of Understandably to do me a solid and subscribe to Mitch Jean's YouTube channel. He already has the 4000 watch hours needed. What can I say? He has a lot of great content on that YouTube channel.

I invite you to join us for the Cheers to Friday! live stream on July 1st for Canada Day from 8-10 pm ET. It's always a good time.

Cheers to Friday!

I would love to hear from those who voted "no" on this. What is the actual argument for one nation trying to take over another sovereign nation? Do those readers also think it would be ok for the US to try to take over Mexico or Canada (or Cuba or Haiti or whatever), just because they're next door? Can Putin do what he wants, just because he wants to?

The story about Officer Tipping really shocked me. The institutional knee-jerk attempt to cover its own behind ( 'he fell down while grappling' when in reality the injuries are unbelievably catastrophic) is simply apalling.

Your letter today, all over the map, is indicative of the whole world today. I had already been thinking about this before your letter popped in. I had listened earlier today to a talk by Margaret Hefferman (ted.com) where she spoke of uncertainty. She spoke much on business practices. My world is based on predictability, 80/20 principle, Just in Time. MH stated clearly that instead of ' Just in Time ' we should realign to " Just in Case ". I thought that was appropriate to today's world. That means a lot of different things to everyone, I am certain. For me, I think I'll have an extra cup of coffee, take a peak at my 401K, Re-do some of the 80/20 work I have done recently and see where ' Just in case ' takes me. Bill, thank you, I have the honor to be, Sir, your obedient and humble reader, Today and Always. Respectfully, LLL. ( From the 28th state to join the Union )

The poll would not launch for me - however, my response is "Yes".

Hi Bill. As a United Empire Loyalist among many North of the border we wonder when America is going to make reparations for our lost wealth. Stolen farms, houses, businesses and goods. Not to mention the torment inflicted. History presents facts. To the winner goes the spoils has been and continues to be America’s mantra. And as the saying goes greed never ends well. Perhaps this is an appropriate time for America to reflect on its path and treatment of many.

I just want to say thanks for taking the time and effort to write a daily column. Don't always agree with what you say but always get to think about.

Who the hell is this 3% that voted "No"? I mean, was this an honest no, like you secretly want to take over the world? Or just a contrarian, go against the crowd no? Or a sarcastic no?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Ingenious dance moves. I’ll not think of my alert tones the same way again, ever.

Not to be nit picky, but Officer Tipping wasn't "brutally injured". That implies that he survived. He was beaten to death. Huge difference.

With the 4th of July right around the corner, I believe it is our duty, yes duty, to recognize America's latest true patriot, Cassidy Hutchinson. To watch her stride into that room and lay bare the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth was awe inspiring.

Is she going to suffer the slings and arrows from people she believed in and worked with? Of course, just look at who they are. Does she care? Not one whit, as far as I could see. What she does care about is democracy and America.

Her politics and mine are probably miles apart. But I get the feeling that we could have a calm debate over an issue and remain civil after we were done. She understands one thing above all else, it's country first, party second. Too many of us have forgotten that simple rule. Looking at you, Mitch McConnell.

I tried to respond to the poll. When I clicked on my response, a web version of the newsletter opened. I didn't think that my response was recorded, so I clicked again. I got pop up asking me for my email address because the poll is only open to subscribers. I am a subscriber, so I entered my email. Got a new pop up indicating that I needed to subscribe. My vote is that the polling feature isn't working.

With all the issues facing our country, why is congress spending so much effort on 1/6? Didn’t they already impeach Trump for this?

Before the Civil War, it was the United States of America are. After the Civil War, it was the United States of America is.

I believe Putin (the Mad Man of Moscow) made a big mistake making war on Ukraine. It is now a lose-lose situation. He has set back Russia economically by decades. If he defeats Ukraine, it will be a shell of what it was, and the people will have to be ruled by force and never recognized by the West.
