I, too, find infomercials fun, but basically I don’t expect them to work! I came across two last year that I picked up from Facebook. One was for a herpes cure. I’d just had shingles (a form of herpes and very painful) and had some residual pain that nothing could touch. I was desperate. This infomercial popped up when scrolling FB and I thought it was worth the chance. Ta da!! It worked and life is back to normal. Color me surprised! The second one was for weight loss. I’m sure most of us can relate to Covid Weight. Same thing. I was sure it wouldn’t work, but again (cue Snare drums)…it worked. I still haven’t given up my skepticism, but it does make me wonder.

I enjoyed today's publication.

As usual some of the 7 additional item items resonated with me more than others.

But the very last thing, a link to a 2004 performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", really got my day off on the right foot.

Thanks for the reminding me of that spectacular gathering of artists performing an amazing song.

Yeah, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame video got my morning off to an awesome start! I still can’t wipe that smile off my face.

Hi Tom, I can relate to your situation, I can better absorb what I am reading if I am also hearing it as well. Anyway, when I am reading something from my computer, I use the “Read-aloud” feature that is a free tool in Microsoft Edge. There are also a lot of voice options you can choose from. Since I came from the Philippines, I use “Rosa’s” voice wherein I can relate more because of the tone, accent, and speed whenever it reads the text. I know its not perfect yet but it has gone a long way on the way they have improved the Text-to-Speech tool.

This isn’t necessarily about today’s publication, but about the wine text endorsement. I’m all for getting reasonably priced wine and great shipping offers, but personally, I don’t want to receive a text every day about some wine I may not have any interest in. I thought I would be able to search for the wines that I like. I might read a text every day for 365 days never have any interest. The concept just doesn’t work for me. Just my two cents worth.

and FYI there is a list of states, including mine, to which they do not deliver (AL, AK, AR, DE, HI, IL, KY, MA, MI, MS, ND, OK, RI, SD, TX, UT)

Thanks for letting me know. I didn’t get that far in my inquiry. I am not in one of those states but it doesn’t make any difference anyway.

Great note, Tom! A wonderful example of how a company can use automation and personal touch to reach people. And I appreciate your thriftiness ... which I would have applied in your case even if I already knew Bill would've sprung for the more expensive app.

I was on active duty (US Navy CTR 2) from January 1965 - January 1970 and we did have US Marines with us, but no females and no soldiers. Johnny Cash was in the US Army and had the same job function that I had. He became known for receiving a particularly important message which anyone can find if they search on the internet. As far as Prince is concerned, I stayed outside the continental 48 from 1966 until 1981, so did not have ANY "English language" entertainment. Got quite the culture shock when I returned.

Loved the Prince video! He could wring any and every note known to man out of his instrument. Fabulous talent gone way too soon.

One of the most amazing performances by Prince was in that tribute to George Harrison. I've watched it more times than I can count.

Oh, and about infomercials. When I started working in TV and had to work the overnight shift, Infomercials were dangerous to those of us in the control room. The entire room fell asleep once. Our Supervisor came running in when we sat in black for about 2 1/2 minutes after one had ended. We were on tape back then, no server lists to automatically start the next show. I hate infomercials.
