back before 2015 when I left the state I was in & had been a Weight Watcher leader/actually called a facilitator (not sure what they're called now) for almost 20 yrs, after losing & keeping off 50 lbs (& still have to this day) - one process I helped members go thru was to identify an issue they might be having, ie: too much snacking, or snacking on the wrong items (this is just one example)... Step 1. Would be what is the problem, broken down into specifics. Step 2. What can I do differently, again broken down, into very basic step-by-step measures. Or just id the first step... Step 3. Ask CAN I do that? Step 4. Ask WILL I do that?
Starvation in Gaza: Just think if Oct 7th would have never happened. Just think if negotiations would have been agreed upon w/ all of the hostages released.
the wearable Bee ---> no, thank you. Did ya hear that?
San Francisco: yep, I talk a lot about CA, San Fran, etc - I have family there. So many businesses have left town, empty buildings, mom & pop shops can't operate, so much crime, so much tax $$ spent on homeless, illegals, etc... the RV situation story, just reading one side... ie: property taxes in CA are soooooo high, so if you own property you're supporting all kinds of things, & pass that on to renters... the RV's are 'maybe' paying some electrical costs, but if you're a homeowner/renter, such costs are varied depending on the time of day (you learn to do laundry in the middle of the night) PLUS the cost of the real estate. Thus, the more expensive your home, the higher percentage your fees are, so you're paying for those unable = those RV's.
end with a thumbs up to the story about reviving old pay phones
So we’re moving from self deporting to self reporting. Alexa can now surveil us 24/7 on our Bee bracelet which we will purchase and choose to wear? If the government required this we would be up in arms. How stupid have we become that such an invasive product is even available, let alone willingly worn?
I like the distinction between feedback and advice. It's reminiscent of the old be-do-have.
I would add this advice response question: what don't I need to say.
I often ask a person I trust in advance to discuss with me afterwards what I may have missed or could do better.
I think feedback is every bit as important as advice and that is why we have close friends and mentors who will tell us the truth even though we may not like it. It won't work without trust.
Advice is cheap if the advisor has no skin in it, you might as well ask AI. Commitment makes a difference.
Another reason to despise the anti-privacy "scamazon". There are two types of advice and feedback. One is technical or practical and the other is social or opinionated.
Epstein was a very sick individual and I am sick of hearing about him. I try my best not to give advice as I can backfire no matter whether the asker follows it or not. Good way to kill a friendship.
I miss payphones! You could talk s long as you had change, no one could hack into your conversations and it was tough to trace.
As for Gaza, that is just sad all around. No winners in that conflict, nor any end to that conflict.
Same with the homeless. So many of them are drug addicts and mentally ill and cannot function in housing. And then there is the group who prey on them and have no interest in following societal rules. It’s about so much more than just housing, but banning things that are all people can afford isn’t the answer either. In a perfect world, there would be sufficient housing that people living on minimum wage could afford, but this world is far from perfect. No profit for developers in building that kind of housing.
It’s not so much whether it is followed, it’s more that they follow it and the result is not what they expected. So it becomes your fault for giving bad advice. Even if they did not really follow it to a tee, it’s still your fault. Had a few too many experiences with that.
Been thinking about this a bit. To my way of thinking, advice is something you don’t necessarily want while feedback is something you actively seek. In my part of the country, advice is worth exactly what you pay for it.
These Are the 9 Epstein Questions We Actually Need Answered:
No. 1: How did Mr. Epstein make his money, and how did he finance his sex trafficking over two decades?
No. 2: Did Mr. Epstein have any ties to spy agencies?
No. 3: Are there references to Mr. Trump in the files that add to our knowledge of his relationship with Mr. Epstein?
No. 4: What about Bill Clinton?
No. 5: Who were the clients implicated in Mr. Epstein’s sex trafficking operation?
No. 6: Who helped Mr. Epstein overseas?
No. 7: What did investigators find in Mr. Epstein’s safe, computers and other property?
No. 8: What do the videos show?
No. 9: What is in Mr. Epstein’s autopsy report?

Excellent essay. Thanks for sharing.
Sadly, the devout minions of the cult already know and dismiss the historical pattern of behavior.

As I implied above, I won’t purchase one. And I’m white, Christian. Altho, my dad was Jewish & I can’t imagine an any Jews interested, nor blacks.
Unfortunately, someone will make this a TikTok trend and all the kids will need to have one. They won’t realize the problem until it’s too late.

Another comment used in Weight Watchers mtgs was “Feedback, not failure.”

I was always told never to give advice unless you’re ok with it not being followed

Just a thought.
Great thoughtful, actionable piece. Thanks,
Two questions I often ask:
1. What is the best advice you feel you received so far?
2. What company/leader/competitior do you really admire and want to be most like, and why?
That second question gets some really interesting, thoughtful responses that shows motivation and true desires.
Thanks for an actionable piece.
How can I make my comments more valuable to you all? :)
On advice:
* Tell me what you have so far
* What is the ultimate goal / ideal outcome / best case scenario?
* Are there any 'must-haves' or non-negotiables?
