Regarding President Carter’s passing, I agree with the NYT biographers. He was a great ex-president, and as a decent, moral man who lived out his faith there was a lot to admire. He was also my Commander-in-Chief during my first enlistment. We were a hollow force; couldn’t get pencils or even fuel for our vehicles. When energy prices spiked in 1979, he told us all to wear sweaters if we were cold and chided us for a spirit of malaise in a nationally televised speech. President Carter inspired and improved the lives of

millions after he left office and I’m glad he will be remembered not just for his mixed record in the White House.

President Carter was one of the worst presidents in American history, but will be remembered as a remarkable humanitarian. The legacy he leaves behind will not be what he did as President, but what he did after. I think if given the chance to pick our own legacies, we'd choose to be remembered for the people we were, not how well we performed at work.

What an amazing post presidency he had. He has earned the right to rest in peace. He worked hard for it.

President Carter was far, far from the worst President we’ve had. As most Democratic presidents have had to contend with, it was left to him to clean up the mess left behind the Nixon/Ford debacle.

In case you’ve forgotten you might want to brush up on the what and wherefore of his administration.

“… the perception of his leadership did not correspond with the reality of his performance.” He might have been the best of the worst but certainly no where near the worst. We are getting that one back for one more term.

Regarding the demise of Googie, there is an Austin, Texas-based burger chain named P. Terry's that builds all of its locations in that style, and it is growing like crazy. There are more P. Terry's locations in the Austin metro area than there are McDonald's!

Thanks! Saved me a trip to LA! I know P. Terry’s!

“Donald John Trump, the twice-impeached, thrice-indicted 45th President of the United States, died on December 29, 2024, mere weeks before he was set to be sworn in for a catastrophic second term. His death, while tragic for those still entranced by his cult of personality, offers a much-needed reprieve for a nation and world terrorized by his existence. He was 78.” Read more…
