In the UK, airport runways are melting, numerous drownings, many without air conditioning in 106F weather, PM having fun at an air show, surgeries cancelled, schools closed, and trains stop running due to the risk of buckling rails.

It seems to me white people are just cowards. Look at the destruction of indigenous peoples all over the world. NATIVE Americans. You KIDNAPPED people from Africa. Then you went back and poisoned the entire continent. Like South and Central America. Australia. I wouldn’t join the military either. Do you know how they treat these people when they no longer have use for them? Do you have any idea the BILLIONS they waste “changing their minds” with contractors building MORE weapons? And they aren’t smart enough to stop hackers? Or kiss Putin’s ass? Wake up people a protect yourselves from infection of all this arrogant hate. And NOW THEY SACRIFICE THE ENTIRE PLANET? For MONEY? IDIOTS. There is no one left to trust. They have no souls.
I'm saddened by this story. Why? Because it depicts such a monumentally brave and pioneering effort in a hostile environment, yet is so little known. Every one of us should be aware of this great and inspiring story.
My father and Uncle used to talk about this guy all the time. They also used to play pick up basketball with Walter Davis' brothers. Walter was too young to join...
Jackie Robinson is the paradigm of all that can be made right in American history and culture. He's a Hero. Thanks for sharing this story and helping the legend of Mr. Smith grow too.
You covered quite a bit Bill. I enjoyed the baseball story as I was a Dodger fan and was so disappointed when they picked up and moved west. I didn’t know everything though about Jackie Robinson until much later when I grew up. What he and so many went through, and maybe still are for all I know, to finally be considered equal and deserving of equal pay and praise. It was the intelligence behind the power of the pen though that greased the skids. Ironic the two men died a month apart. Great story.
I’m watching the heat in Great Britain and am hoping it’s broken by the time my sons and I head to Scotland in September. Selfishly, I hope they get the tarmac ironed out is our plane can land by then. The heat related death count is probably worse by now. The world is burning up and all people can talk about is how bad things are with gas prices. Jeez!
