This means so much to me. I’m a member of the American Airmail Society: AAMS. I study the history of flights and airmail cachet’s. I must purchase the book ‘Crossed Over’ that was referenced.

So interesting!! I always learn so much from your newsletters. I love all the historical information you add - because I am so behind in my knowledge of historical facts (in so many areas) But once I read something in your newsletter (and elsewhere) I am that much more informed. The more I read, the more I realize I don't know - but I remain steadfast to read something new (or a few things depending on the time I have) everyday.

As a history buff I very much enjoy the historical references.

To all those crypto investors who planned on getting rich over night and making everyone else look stupid- good luck buying a cup of coffee.

Wait, maybe the woman who murdered her husband was influenced by the media. It’s not her fault! < for the pedantic among us, that was a satirically-ironic remark.>

As for changing the “basics” of Basic Training I’m kind of torn. I’m all for sensitivity, when it’s well placed. But I’m not sure that those millennials in basic training will ever be truly prepared when they come face-to-face with “the enemy“. Will they want to discuss their feelings first?

Hello this less a comment on this article which I enjoyed and more a suggestion for a future article that combines this air travel with the frequent flier article and some recent experiences I’ve had with airport security. I’ve noticed that some airports have a much more military style of getting people through security they are loud, unfriendly, unsmiling, and seem to shout orders in a drill sergeant manner. This doesn’t make people feel any safer and I don’t think it makes them do a better job it unfortunately just makes traveling that much more stressful and anxious. I’m going to put Detroit Metropolitan Airport in this field. Other airports like for instance Asheville North Carolina and many others are very friendly calm soothing Asheville even has someone playing the piano and it’s just such a nicer way to treat Americans and foreign travelers It has me wondering who makes these decisions and how TSA employees trained and why the discrepancy?

Every day we hear new reports on the Uvalde school shooting. Beginning to look like “coverup” (if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, well . . . . )

I very much enjoyed the story about the “real”(and very treacherous)transatlantic flight. Those two poor guys were smart to put their rickety four wings and a motor down on the first solid ground they spied. That’s what keeps pilots alive.

Bitcoin, meh. Who couldn’t see that news coming a mile away?

I’m not sure the Uvalde police really did respond. They showed up. Maybe that counts as responding?

This is just an FYI for anyone interested. My dog and I are watching David Attenborough’s Prehistoric Planet on my Apple TV. It’s quality TV.

With energy and electricity so high-priced, maybe the government should pay the cost for the many impoverished citizens. If the government finds the cost to be too much, let them find the money where it is, with the huge and wealthy energy and electricity corporations. Why should the struggling public suffer while the obscenely rich corporations make millions and billions of dollars?
