Driving cars can have the same results as the list above. Existing mental health issues as well. Poverty, stupidity, just plain meanness - and many other things.

I believe the key is how you might abuse anything, and I mean anything.

When preparing a nice meal I generally consume 2.5 five ounce glasses of red wine over the course of two or so hours. I also know my body (based on medical fact) metabolizes a 14% ABV single glass of wine an hour. I am perfectly fine and have also experimented with breathalyzers out of curiosity.

The list of things that influence how inebriated one might become are at least as lengthy as the list you provided above.

I suspect Will Smith was under the influence of his ego and his wife when he made his poor decision.

Thanks for reading the post and your comment, Darrell. "The list of things that influence how inebriated one might become are at least as lengthy as the list you provided above." The influence of alcohol on our brains is physiological response that we can measure, hence Blood Alcohol Level. Even if we don't "feel" the effects of or "act drunk" our reaction time, physical capabilities and reasoning abilities are compromised. You are so very right: mental health issues, poverty, stupidity, and just plain meanness can contribute to poor outcomes. Alas, we lack accurate strategies to measure the last two, and the collective and political will to address the first two. Yes, people can consume alcohol safely and with great enjoyment, such as you do, and that is a positive addition to your life. I would not encourage anyone to deprive you of that. My concerns focus in my work focuses on youth consumption, and adults who buy, supply, fail to lock up, and create a culture where intoxication is tolerated, winked at and even encouraged. Thank you again, Darrell, for taking time to read and post. I wish you a great weekend and perhaps a nice meal with some fine red wine!
